Had That Sinking Feeling "Both" Rounds This Weekend...The "Ut Oh" Fever!

Tough weekend when it came to using my brains this weekend.....Not once, but twice this weekend I got that dreaded sinking feeling inside me because I just realized the stupid thing I just did or found out.

First one was Sat......5 Man Scramble Event

Team well chosen, everyone ready to go as we started on 1A. I was last to tee off and the group knows that we are going to use my ball so every one comes to it.

I am 4th to hit a 100 yard uphill shot.....comes my turn I look into my TM carry bag and I see no PW. Wait I see no clubs in the bottom row of my 4 way TM carry bag. So my 9, PW, 54 Degree and 58 Degree were not in my bag......"Ut Oh" #1

Took my clubs out my bag to dry off day before and when I went to put my clubs into my bag I never put those 4 clubs into it even though they all were right next to each other. I know what I did to cause this besides being stupid. Stopped to switch out a 3 Hy for a 4 wood for the scramble. Also, adjusted the MWT weights in my driver and that is were I stopped.

I quick shout out to my Local Muni Pro.....after we all hit and me chunking my 8 iron from 100 yards I call the Head Pro to ask him I could use his new AP2's 9, PW and Volkey wedges. His response was I did not have my clubs with me!

OK, we hang up....I am thinking and not playing at this point. I am playing but missing every shot. He calls right back and goes, can it get into your house and get them for you? I said yes and says how....My garage door opener and the clubs are right when you walk into the house. ( He is a good friend and has been to my house many times and I lived 13 minutes away)

Marshall comes out to get my keys and opener and again missed #3 green from 100 yards and while on the green on #4 the Marshall hands me my 9, PW, 54 and 58..... Only needed two PW shots and neither hurt the team...did not help, but did not hurt us. Play good the rest of the way and we take 2nd place.

I was ripped about this the whole day and long after the round and well deserved.

Now we come to today's round.

5 Club Event.....got this one right!

Played in this many years in a row and always do good as the course really sets up super well for me and my choices.

Played great! Some really good shots and was -1 going into my last hole a par 3. Poor shot left just past pin high and 15 steps off the green. Playing in a 5 someone (we joined the 3 some I front of us and had no one behind us as it was a backside shot gun and we started in #13 and no one else had made the turn yet from the early morning groups, so total cool to do) One of the players is dress in TM Hawaiian Shirt, TM Shorts and a small Straw hat and drinking like a Marlin all day long.

So I am left of the green on my last hole and this hammered guy is shaking right for the past 3 holes including this one. I walk up to my ball, mark it clean it and hit a poor chip and need the putt to shot -1 with just 5 clubs and a personal best. The hammered guy starts acting even more hammered talking to friend so it catches everyone's attention. Then I hear the words I never wanted to hear, "This is not my ball" It takes me a second before it clicks in and I go to myself, "Ut Oh" "Oh No" "Please No" as I pull the ball in my pocket out. Sinking Feeling #2 and this one feels so much worse. I hit the wrong, not him. I never even noticed that he hit a ball left for once and I only saw one ball over on the left side. I did think I hit it past the flag and this one was pin high and I did mark and clean it and still missed it....Totally my fault and the hammered guy felt bad and I tried to let him know that it was my fault and you did nothing....he did hit mine but he was long done for this event picking up hole after hole towards the end.

So I get it up and down and make a double to shot +1 which was still an awesome day. No clue of the results but it is what it is.

It's amazing how we say we will never ever hit the wrong ball again and yet it seems to happen to people again and sometimes many more times. I can only think of three times for me in 45 years of playing.

Crazy weekend but still was a fun one cashing or not cashing....just need to improve on being so stupid!

Anyone else being stupid out on the course?

Well aren't you a 'cotton-headed ninnymuggins'.

'It' happens.

To answer your question: so many times I've lost count. I have lost not one, but two 8 irons during the course of play (then purchased a Niblick to try to fill the spot in my bag :russian_roulette:). I have also reached the first green on more than one occasion to discover that my putter had been left at home.

I had recently moved and my good friend from the league I used to play in called and asked if there was any way I could sub in the league. I said I could and made the 2 hour drive to play. WhenI got there I had that uh oh moment when I opened my trunk to discover no golf clubs and no golf shoes. Luckily my friend had an extra set of clubs he let me use that night.
