whats the diffrence betweet the tom flight Gamer and Gamer v2?

The original run of the Gamer shredded like nobody's business. The V2 was a vast improvement. Now they've started making a plain ole Gamer again which are not the same as the originals and they make the Gamer Tours as well which I believe are actually a urethane cover.

The V2 was an excellent surlyn covered ball that was long and had decent spin around the green. The new Gamer offered by Dicks's since they purchased Top-Flite was not close to the V2 in performance, but the Gamer Tour was a good ball for $25 with a urethene cover which helped hold the green, and the ball has good distance. Dick's has not released any updates yet for 2014, and are discounting the Gamer series to clear the shelves.

Never hit the tom flight gamer. I understand it doesn't spin nearly as much as the ads make it seem, which is understandable with a non-urethane cover.

The gamer v2 is what got me turned onto to TF again when I started up again. After I couldn't find it I kept on playing the gamer. V2 spun more around the greens especially for a non-urethane. I really liked both especially @ the price point from Dicks. I actually saw 3 boxes of V2's at my local dicks for $12/dz last week which I thought was strange. I wouldn't recommend the tour though, I find the cover barely lasts 3 holes.

The 2014 gamers are on the shelf at the DSG I shop at. I dont know if they changed the ball any, but it is a new box. 2 for $30 and tour is 2-$35. They also have the gamer soft.

I play the regular gamer, I hit the ball high so I dont need the extra spin. Last week I went to the DSG website to buy the yellow version of the gamer, and they only had one boxfor sale. So the new ones are starting to get to the market.

I did not realize that Dicks released new gamer tours - I will have to check and see if there any improvements, and I did enjoy the ball last season. When it looked like Dick's might be giving up on the Gamer ( I called a couple of months ago and Dicks said that the future of gamer tour was uncertain) I purchased a dozen of the 2014 Maxfli U/3's for $24.95. We are still a few weeks away from playing so I cannot say how the U/3's work for me. With the TM Project (a) and e5 there are some great choices available for those of us that want some spin around the green , less spin with the driver, and not cost $50/dozen.
