When will Under Armour fully immersed itself in golf?

I'm not wrong. Name the list of countries that play these sports both at a high level and also at grass roots level in healthy numbers.

The post quoted from said UA could get into the baseball and lacrosse equipment market by purchasing the companies named to help them grow as a business.

My point is that if UA want to grow on a global basis then based on the examples given, then cricket would give them a greater potential market with cricket bats over baseball bats

It's not my job to prove it as I've done my fair share of research on this very topic, but I will give just a few examples. Did you know that baseball is more popular than any other sport in Venezuela?.....more popular than even futbol, in a South American country at that! Japan's #1 sport is baseball, more popular than Martial Arts.....hence the reason that ABC is showing the international little league game between Japan and South Korea as I type this. Basketball in Japan has become popular as well as in South America. I could go on and on with stats to prove it, but won't waste my time unless you do some research yourself.

I'm not trying to say cricket isn't popular in other places throughout the world, but if you think UA can market a cricket bat over a baseball bat and make more money from it, you're insane. Cricket is played in a lot of less fortunate countries. Where the people playing going go to their local field and play a recreational game rather than in a competitive atmosphere where it gains international attention and most importantly sponsorships. Soccer is the same way. It's cheap because all you really need is a ball; therefore, it's easy to understand it's popularity in other countries. Do you know how much money little league mom's spend on baseball equipment for little Johnny year after year? UA has exploded onto the baseball and football scene in the U.S. and if UA decided to get into the bat making business, I'm certain they'd make a lot more money from producing the greatest and newest metal bats than a wood stick used my people who have probably used the same wood stick to play their game for years and years. It's much like golf equipment with these little league moms. New technology means another $300 dropped on a new metal bat that helps Johnny make the all star team.

When you go to ebay and search "baseball" you get 4,170,000 results. When you go to ebay and search "cricket", you get cell phones as the result. It's not rocket science.

What's an eBay earch hit list got to do with it?

Have you even been to India ( or even left the US)? Have you never heard of the IPL? Brand valued at over $3bn, first sporting event ever broadcast live on You Tube etc etc

The Cricket World Cup was watched by 2.2 billion people and is the third highest viewed sporting event after the Football World Cup and the Olympics.

American Football and baseball are minority sports outside the US with a few exceptions. It ain't me that needs to do some research

To answer your question, I have absolutely no desire to visit India. As a matter of fact, I have no desire to go anywhere in the vicinity of India these days. I'll take my 3-4 times a year trip to Summit County Colorado during the winter, once a year trip to Upstate NY in the summer. With the exception of my once every two year trip to a tropical resort in Mexico, I like keeping my feet planted on American soil. That leaves me quite satisfied with my travels.

Now to get a little bit back on topic. I think you're getting too caught up in how many people are watching compared to playing the sport. How many of the 2.2 billion watched the cricket event actually play the game and buy equipment for the game? That's what this topic was about.

Well as someone who has been in every continent bar Antarctica I can only say that travel broadens horizons. Immerse yourself in the local culture you will see the real world, not one according to eBay, Fox News, Google etc

The US is no different in having its own cultures, customs and ways of thinking but you will know that far better than I ever will. You have your own sports that (in my opinion) no one else really plays, you have your own automobiles than no one else drives, your own date system, measurements etc.

We will have to agree to disagree on this one.

Have a good weekend

$3 billion value for a league doesn't sound like all that much...

That's about how much the Dallas Cowboys are worth.

Maybe Under Armour could buy and resurrect Tommy Armour Golf and create Tommy Under Armour. Under Under Armour, they could have the clothing and accessories line of today, and under Tommy Under Armour they could release an updated tour line of clubs called the Tommy Under Armour 845's. If successful, they could expand into the ball market and release Under Tommy Armour's Balls. If that goes well, further expansion may be in order and they can begin domination of other sports until they dominate the sporting goods market as a whole, at which time they can change their name to Under Armour All. Under Under Armour All, they could release a car care (and club care line) called Armour All.

The possibilities are endless.
