Golf Bag Cleaning

Odd question here I suppose, but how do you clean the inside of a golf bag? I have a Callaway stand bag that has very narrow slots for clubs. Despite your best efforts, dirt and sand will get in there and get on your grips. If I could get a vacuum in there I would go that route.

Remove all the clubs, turn the bag upside down and shake it all out.

When I still lived in Louisiana after I graduated college, I played at a little 9 hole course that didn't have a fairway watering system. Needless to say, it was dustier than you could imagine during the Southern summers. Every other week I would take everything out of my bag and take the water hose to the whole thing, and then dump out the excess water and dirt. I was playing a collegiate Ping Hoofer at the time, and I didn't notice any negative effects from doing this periodically.

Thanks, I think I will give that water hose trick a try. I had already turned it upside down to knock dirt out several times.

I washed mine with detergent. Started off with a very old bag I was no longer using, just to see if there were any errors in my plans, and used a stiff brush to make sure I was able to get soapy water at all the joins and corners, turned the pockets inside out where possible and hand rubbed the insides of the rest. Made a bucket of soapy water and poured that into the bag and shook the bag. Wow water can be heavy.!

When I poured the water out and gave the whole thing a hefty rinse, the first water poured blackish. I had not realized that old bag was that dirty. I let it air dry hanging upside down in the shade for three days and the bag came out looking good enough to put back into service.

I subsequently washed all my bags the same way.

Ness and Shambles, I cleaned that bag with a water hose and liquid dish washing soap and it came out fantastic. It is still a little damp in places but it looks great. I am going to return it to service and do the same cleaning with my other bag so that I can hopefully always have a nice clean bag on hand.

Have a caution to NOT over do. Over do and you will end up with a very clean worn out bag.

I could see that happening for sure. The bag that I cleaned was already worn quite a bit as I had bought a used set of used irons and the guy just threw the bag in on the deal so it was already used a good bit plus all of the use that I had given it for a few years. I figure I can keep it and the other old bag I have going a few years though. I don't think this is something that you would do very often. Maybe once a season or so.

I washed my Ogio cart bag yesterday after reading these posts. I used warm soapy water (dish soap) and a soft brush. I hung it upside down on the patio cover on my back yard for about 6 hours and it came out GREAT! I live in Northern California so it may take longer to dry in areas with higher humidity.
