Unique golf phrases/words that you use...

Whenever someone in the group hits it into the trees, we say "spit it out Monica".

A pulled shot is a DiMaggio (dead yank).

"I wouldn't kiss her in front of you guys, but I'd take her home"-- an ugly looking shot that ends up OK. Similar to a girl at the end of the night at a bar- not something you'd kiss in front of your buddies but it might work out OK.

I was playing in a scramble with three people I work with one of whom is a woman who although not a great golfer is a great athlete. She had played college hockey and been close to making a couple of our Canadian womens Olympic teams.

Before the round we had been joking about toning it down with her there and she said bring it, she had played sports with boys and men her whole life.

A couple of holes later on of the guys smokes a long drive and says I hit that one like an Italian bride on her wedding night.

We all kind of looked at him for an explanation never having heard that one before.

It was hard and unexpected, needless to say all three of us kind of turned on him a bit for that one.

We were in a bar in LA after a round when a BEAUTIFUL woman sits down beside me and starts mildly flirting. This never happens as I'm not exactly a magnet for gorgeous women. We'd just got off the course and my buddy leans in and says:"Don't get too excited, I think she has a strong right hand..." Went right over my head. Then he says "what do you get with a strong right hand? I had an aha moment... a hook! Hooker! And I thought she just liked my lame jokes. LOL!

"Pull a hammy" when you run a putt by the hole and need it to stop.

"Run like you stole something" when you have to hit from trees and run it up.

I used one yesterday that I we used to say all the time. A putt that is hit way too hard as it is on its way, "that one needs to hit a house".... I picked it up years ago, it doesn't really even make sense, but my buddies and I used to say this all the time. Maybe for a shot that is going OB, but why did we use it on the putting green?.....the weird things you do say on a golf course....

So me and my buddy playing for junk have the regulars:
Greenie
Birdie
Barkie
Sandie
Snake for the last person holding a 3 putt
but we also added a few over the years
"Flipper" - hit one in the water and make a par
"Rockie" - bounce one of any rocks on a course and make a par
"Chipper" - chip in for a par or better
"skirt" - don't make it past the forward tees and make a par
One season, it took us so long to get anything we even added "FIR-Y" - yep hit it in the fairway and make a par... all of you have to be playing rubbish for that to kick in.

Same saying, but different meaning: a caddy at my old club used to say this when he read a putt, but he meant it "I like it firm in the rear".

I was going to use this one as well - first heard it during a practice round for my best friend's U.S. Open qualifying when the guy said it to my friend after he really cranked one out there - I thought my buddy was going to slap him or something when he said it until he explained. We still use it going on 15 years later.

And the 'Liberace' definitely wins the internet for the day it was posted.
