Sunriver Resort in Bend Oregon

I am planning a guys trip to Bend Oregon. It looks like we will be staying at Sunriver and playing Sunriver-Crosswater, Tetherow, Proghorn-Nicklaus and Pronghorn-Fazio while we are there. It looks like some of the guys will be able to get there a little early the first day so we may be able to sneak in another round. Of the two other courses at Sunriver, the Woodlands and the Meadows, which is the better course to pick up given the rest of our line-up? My group are all single digit handicappers.

After playing the other courses either one of the Sunriver will be a little let down. Don't get me wrong its not bad but Crosswater is my one of my favorites ever. Pretty cool there is a bald eagles nest on the tee on a par 3 I think its 14th hole. Back to the topic, I would play the meadows, but if you could play crosswater again instead I would do that personally.

Crosswater is a very difficult course. To me, it is one of those "played once and that is enough" kind of courses, but you might feel differently. Of the other SR courses, Meadows is next.

The range at Crosswater is awesome, btw.

I second the vote for Brasada, it's not the most challenging course but it's beautiful and well designed.

Thanks for the info. We are actually playing Sunriver-Crosswater and Tetherow twice on the trip (plus both Pronghorn courses.....6 rounds total). The round in question would be a "bonus" round the evening we arrive (staying at Sunriver). Looks like Brasada Ranch is only an option if you are staying there? If so it sounds like we may try to sneak onto Sunriver-Meadows the evening we arrive as the extra round.

Have you considered [b]Widgi Creek[/b], which is just up the road a bit from [b]Tetherow[/b]? There is also [b]Aspen Lakes[/b] a few miles north of Bend.

If you don't like [b]Tetherow[/b] (some really don't like it) then those may be options as well for a second round.

Go to the "Northwest" subforum and search those course names if interested.

Aspen Lakes is a very nice track in Sisters.

I played aspen lakes and loved it, one of my favorite tracks/golf experiences ever. Played first out as a single and it was beautiful! Had a few deer accompany me for a few holes, too!

Also played Juniper in Redmond with a Wrx member, really enjoyed it too, but absolutely loved aspen as I'm a sucker for tree lined courses. Just an awesome serene experience

*passive brag alert* as I was teeing off the first hole from the tips, the ranger approached me and told me tips are reserved for low handicap players and its a long course. I hit 3w 320 up the middle and he told me " ok enjoy your round." 5/10 times I'd probably top it with a ranger sitting there judging haha.

If you are looking to fit in an afternoon round and don't have time to drive out to Bradada or Aspen Lakes, you might consider Quail Run just south of Sunriver. It doesn't get the love that a lot of other CO courses do, but its a good design, walkable if you want, and borders national forest with no homes/condos to be seen.

yes Quail a nice track, haven't been there since it became 18 holes but the original 9 was awesome, can only imagine now
