To respond directly to your OP...I don't think there is a polite way to say "speed up" or " move to different tees". If you are at the tee while they are still teeing off then I can't see anything wrong with saying " we play stupid fast. Do you mind if we play thru? we will be out of your way in no time".

IMP is 100% correct. I can't remember having to ask to play through. The only time I have been asked was when the course was gridlocked in front of me. If there is nobody behind them I let them play through so I can relax and hit some extra balls if I want to. Otherwise I tell them "it is backed up. We are waiting too. Sorry."

I played Poppy Hills right after it reopened and the group in front of us was playing the tips and definitely did not hit it more than 190 in the fairway all day long. At a point when 3 groups were backed up and all of them hit the ball less than halfway there on a par 3, I asked them if they could consider moving up. Obviously they told us to go f*** ourselves and I'm sure they just told themselves it was us who is the problem and played on. 5.5 hour round.

Ugh this game is going to die if this keeps up.

I see this constantly at my home club; I am a short hitting 4 capper and I play with a 70-year-old who plays to a 6...we play the white tees at 6100; we are often paired up with guys who play the tips at 7100 or the blacks at 6700...their first tee decision seems to be deeply rooted in false machismo, but at least they quickly become embarrassed when they are 15+ strokes behind us by the turn; the bad part is my buddy and I have to spend WAY too much time looking for their tee shots in the woods and hazards
