U-G-L-Y Cobra Amp Cell headcovers

Recommended Posts

I love the clubs, but hate the headcovers. Paint splattered covers on a 51 year old mans clubs just doesn't work. I was at the auto parts store today and saw some plastic/vinyl upholstery spray paint. I heard that click that goes off in my head from time to time and figured why not? If it doesn't work I'll just finally order some new ones. Actually, they turned out better than I expected. I'll still end up with either JuJu's or a set of Stitch covers though.

that looks way better! Good work. I'll be curious to see how they hold up. Does the coating seem flexible enough to not crack after taking the head covers off and on? I have the same head cover and I'd love to try this if it works out for you.

It sure seems like it. I figure if it's made for auto seats, it should work great for this.

that turned out pretty good, was there any prep work involved? has any of it rubbed off on your hands when theyre sweaty and you're playing?
[/quote]
I just wiped them down good with rubbing alcohol. I only did this yesterday, so time will tell. I just went out and grabbed one and twisted it up pretty good with no peeling or scuffing at all so that is encouraging!

Great Idea It is amazing what Wrx members can come up with. I have an older set of Adams Insight covers that have the magnet closers. Those are the covers that were famous for the letters peeling off of them that is how I got them for free. I may try that Thanks for sharing

Look awesome.

But how do they feel? I used this stuff before and they felt chalky. And with sweaty hands does it smudge off?

Yes the AC covers are hideous. i was shocked when I took mine out of the box ... nice looking club, oh here's the head cover. :WTF:

Cool idea and nice work - also curious how it holds up. Too bad i tossed mine in the trash after laying eyes on it for 5 seconds.

Actually, they feel fine. I have 3 rounds on them now and it's holding up just fine so far. Even if it does start coming off, I still have over half a can of paint :taunt:

So it's been a while... How are they holding up? I'm considering doing something similar with my Bio Cell + headcover.

Can anyone explain to me the thought behind keeping the back sides of the headcovers open? I can't help but think rain can get in and/or maybe an iron banging in there especially when travelling. No interest in using the stock headcovers on the Bio Cell Pro at all.

Apparently so the club dries. But I was also told by a Golfsmith pupil that it prevents rust. I had no idea titanium could rust. What I have learned at Golfsmith I apply everyday.

As said it will help them dry and it also works as a handle for pulling clubs out of your bag and off the clubs.??

No matter how they turn out, it's still better than the original!
