What is the major advantage of replacing a G/A wedge that matches your iron set with a 48/50 degree RTX 2.0? Will there be a distance change if you keep the loft consistant? I keep debating making this switch but I can't quite convince myself it will help my scoring.

Thanks!

What is the most popular sole grind among the tour players, if they don't have their own custom grinds?

in all honesty, what would you tell golfers would be an ideal space for a 60*. To me, if you have trouble breaking 80-85, a 60* has no place in ones bag.

In all of your respective time's at Cleveland Golf, what would you each say is your favorite wedge you have produced to date and how does it compare to the new RTX 2.0's?

Thanks for taking the time to answer the questions!
[background=#ffffff]Pat: The RTX 2 is my favorite wedge since I starting with Cleveland. We made major improvements in spin with the rotex face technology. The RTX 2.0 builds on the success of the rotex spin performance but adds versatility to my short game. With the Rotex 2.0 wedges, we improved the playability of all three soles. I am currently playing a low, std and full sole in my wedge set. [/background]

[background=#ffffff]Brian: I have to go with the CG15 wedge. We had led the way by being the first company to mill grooves in the past, but the Tour Zip Grooves on the CG15 wedges, along with the new laser milled face, really set them apart from any other wedge at the time. Since then, we’ve improved the face technology even more and I love the versatility offered in the Rotex 2.0 wedges.[/background]

[background=#ffffff]Jeff: It’s not my “favorite” wedge, but I’m going with the Smart Sole just to be different. I play a Smart Sole C and have saved more strokes with that club than maybe any other in my bag. If I’m chipping with that thing, I usually just leave the putter in the bag cause it’s gonna be a tap in! It’s also great when other players start the round saying “what is that thing” and then end the round asking where they can get one.[/background]

[background=#ffffff]Dustin: My favorite would have to be the Recovery Sole wedge, precursor to Smart Sole. I had a need for an extremely wide sole wedge that I could not chunk on wet partial length swings, and this wedge was the first to fill that void. Although it filled that void it clearly could not be easily used for other shots around the course. I will definitely be replacing this with some full sole RTX2.0 wedges that still give me confidence from chunking partial swing shots, while also give me the versatility to hit other shots during my round.[/background]
Wow! Unique and very cool answers. Thank you guys so much for this and your honesty. Look forward to upgrading my wedges (except the ole rusty cg14, that bad boy stays!)

We want raw! We want raw! We want raw!!! - LaunchSquad testing member.

Also, Another question, in your reply about SM5 vs. RTX you imply that the CB is for forgiveness and for higher handicappers and for better transition for the GI iron folks. But I see quite a few CB's on tour. I also play 3 588 RTX CB wedges, 48, 52, 56. What is the distribution on tour of CB vs. MB for the RTX wedges? And if the vast majority on tour are raw finish, and Cleveland's original 588 was a huge success in raw finish, why not offer it now?

Thank you first for answering my initial wedge number and gapping question.

Now, other than the Rust/Oil Can, Standard/Satin Chrome, Black/Black Pearl, Steel Blue & Unfinished finishes that are currently in the market. What other finishes or requests for finishes, however outlandish, have you had either from the general public or pros? For some reason I can't see a Loudmouth type finish.

And I have a 60*(27capper) its my favorite club and the one I trust the most inside 100yds(which is where I am most times on par 4's after a good drive). I don't want to flame you or anything but what are your reasons for stating a 60* has no business in a high handicapper's bag, I get much more usage out of my 60* than I do even with my 3w and 5w combined.

(was just stating a response joey but am open to talking more into depth if you'd like to explain your reasoning, just pm so we don't derail this thread)

There are many different thoughts on this subject, and 60 deg wedges probably aren’t for all golfers. However there are huge advantages if you know how to use it – even for the improving golfer.

Check out our Pelz Corner video where Dave help with how to properly use a lob wedge.

I would have to agree. I use my 60* pretty much exclusively for my greenside chipping. One hop and stop; repeatable, every time. Saves my a** A LOT.

When a new grind is decided for release how much player input vs corporate input is there?
Player testing drives the innovation process. We test with both pros and amateurs. Our R&D test department conducts player tests, with amateur golfers, literally every day of the week (shout out to our “launch squad!!”). The R&D team looks at all that data and uses all of their know-how to design the best product we can. If by corporate input you mean someone sitting in an office pushing their own agenda without considering player test data, that doesn’t exist.

With all the different grind options and your research do you find it more important to find a wedge that fits your full swing or one you are comfortable with on partial swings and around the greens?

I was a 52/56/60 player for years and tried switch this year to 52/58, unfortunately my game just isn't strong enough to try and dial back the 52 for longer shots that the 58 can't handle but the 58 is a big time winner around the greens for me. I am looking to go to 50/54/58 but I imagine that 54 will be a tweener club for me being used primarily for full swing shots but for chips and pitches around the green too when the situation doesn't call for the 58 so should I be trying to fit that 54 to fit my full swing which is a bit steep or fit it to my greenside style which involves a lot of face manipulation, ball positioning, shaft positioning etc...

Thanks! Love the look of these too by the way. Holding off on SM5's right now until I get the chance to swing these.
We discussed this a lot during the development of the RTX 2.0 wedges. Our goal was to make grind options that all performed very well on full shots, and we accomplished that, which we’re very proud of. That being the case, we would recommend you find the wedge that fits your game on partial shots and shots around the green. We’re confident that the full shot performance will be there regardless of which model/bounce/loft you go with.

still answering questions? I have played Cleveland wedges for years, but I have had a hard time fitting a gap wedge into my set. I'm 6'3" and play +3/4 length irons, but standard length wedges. My 52 and 56 degree wedges seem to go the same distance. Would using a 50 degree standard length be better, or a lengthened 52 degree? (My PW is 45 degree btw)
