Can a yellow golf ball improve your game (all else being equal)?

So I'm one of those long time readers, first time poster here. I'm going to be in the market for some new golf balls for next season and I'm basically waiting for end-of-year sales and/or the new products coming out a little later. I've always had an interest in a yellow golf ball because I don't know about you, but I seem to have trouble finding my ball more than I should. I mean I watch the flight, see it land, take note of where it is, but there's probably once a round where I can't seem to find it right away even though my view of it isn't obstructed; it's just lying in the grass.

 

Then it occurred to me that years back, the goaltender for my favourite NHL team used to wear bright yellow pads and was advised by an optician that he shouldn't wear them any longer because the colour yellow naturally draws the human eye and consequently, shooters were having a better chance to score on him as a result. I was wondering if you guys think you could apply that same theory to golf: that you naturally see a yellow ball better and therefore your odds of making good contact would be increased if you went instead with the yellow version of your golf ball of choice (for those that have one). I don't imagine the difference would be that dramatic (and probably even less so for those with a single digit handicap), but every little bit helps, golf is a hard enough game as it is.

IF you think it makes you see the ball better it might. Improve your game: only if you believe it will. Finding your ball really will depend on where it lands. Certain ground conditions will either make it stand out or hide the ball. Fall or dry grass conditions make a yellow ball very hard to find. It's all about contrasting colors. White is still the best color out there.

I play yellow Chrome +. I'm the only one who plays it in my groups. It's nice knowing which is mine. The Yellow SEEMS more durable since they tend to hide blemishes a little better. I do find them easier to track as well. Other than that, no difference.

Also wondering about this....post LASIK, I'm having a harder time discerning the contrast against clouds, low light conditions, etc....

If you count penalties and you are more likely to find a yellow ball, then I'd say yes it would shave a little off your game.

Thanks for the responses guys (except one-word Oliver there, lol). I didn't really express it properly, but I was thinking more about during your swing, if a yellow ball helps your eyes focus better on it which then produce a more consistent hit.

They hurt my score. For some reason, I have a harder time finding a yellow ball in green grass than a white ball. So I'll incur more penalty strokes. Fall is the worst when there are all those leaves in the rough.

Agreed. Fall is a bad time for yellow because of the leaves. Yellow works well on overcast days and twilight rounds.

Im surprised you don't see blaze orange as an option. You'd have a hard time losing one of those.

I actually see pink balls best in the fall/winter when leaves are on the course. I'm considering playing a pink ball...ha ...I know some folks that like yellow balls though since the practice ranges they go to have yellow balls. They say they hit so many yellow balls it helps their mental game to play with a yellow ball....whatever they think helps i guess.

I have developed cataracts over the past few years and I see the yellow balls better.

I find the yellow once are easier to see in the air and on the ground. Callaway super soft in yellow is the ticket!

Note that there are definitely different "yellows" out there. I play the NXT-Tour S Yellow, and sometimes it's actually TOO bright depending on the sun intensity and angle.

They REALLY pop from a distance however, and I still find them easier with leaves on the ground than the white ones.
