Why does he sometimes keep his head tilted in a way that keeps his eyes on the ball for a very long time, and other times he allows his head to come up sooner?

eight, that's the only pic I can find where he's in this position so deep in the follow through. I can find a few others like this one which have a head down look but at a point not as deep in the swing.

HoganA, that's an interesting theory. There's a scuff mark on the turf but no divot, though there does seem to be some flying grass above his head and the club head is a bit blurred. You could very well be right however.

Another option could be that his spine engine stop working in mid swing

I could not prove it , but I thought definitely a no ball swing

First pic, Hogan was so certain of where the ball would land, no need to look up. Second pic, hitting from the rough, even Hogan could get anxious about where the ball went and looked up.
