WOW!
So I notice these at Golf Galaxy on closeout sale (Cally baught TF) and decide to spend $12 bucks for a few dozen winter/spring balls. I read the marketing; designed for the better player; thin urethane cover...interesting. I forget that I had them so a pull them out for a few rounds last week and BAMB this damn ball is fantastic!! It did everything you would expect from a premium ball; not a second tier ball but a premium ball. Feel was perfect (exactly like the ProV to me) and spin around the green was on par. Ball flight was nice and hot with nothing ballooning or getting caught up in the wind and the distance was ABOVE average. The cover did scuff fairly easy as it's incredibly soft. I have a conspiracy theory boys; did Cally buy TF for the ball technology? I really wonder if a lot of the nuts and bolts designed into this ball made its way into Cally's new hot premium line. Don't laugh; this one is very legit. I went back today and purchased another 8 dozen! :russian_roulette:

Irons: 19' Cobra CB's

Fairway: Titleist 917F2

I bought 7 dozen last month at $13/dzn!! They are awesome balls if you can find them. They aren't made anymore but they are a real treasure. I use to play the Pro V1x, and still do on occasion, and I cannot tell the difference between the two balls. They are fairly durable as well... I can get at least 9 holes out of one.

This is my gamer this season until they run out of inventory. Let's see; 4 dozen balls for the price of 1 dozen premiums with zero drop off in performance....yeah that's about right. Can't wait to kick peoples butts with a TopFlight!

  • 2 weeks later...

I used to love the old Strata's (circa 00-02). One thing I distinctly remember about that ball was that in any sort of wet weather, the ball would literally come undone. You'd hit a flush iron shot and hear the cover of the ball tear up. I don't know if that is still the case, but I'd be interested in any observations by you guys playing them. Like yourselves, I basically stock up on dozens of balls at rock bottom prices, so long as they are a quality ball.

Not so much of a conspiracy theory, it is pretty obvious they bought Top Flight for a couple of the patents they had.

I must agree. These balls are awesome. ABout 6 weeks ago my local Golf Galaxy had them on sale for $9.99 a box. I picked up a box to try them out and see if the hype was correct. Boy was it. As soon as my round was over that day I drove over to GG and grabbed two more boxes.

Today I was in Golf Galaxy and I noticed they only had 8 boxes left and they raised the price to $12.99. I still had to grab more. I picked up 3 more boxes with a gift card. I should be set for the next year.

I read somewhere that K-mart still has stock left of these and you can catch them on clearance at times.

This ball was the last Strata that was produced before Callaway integrated the technology into the HX Tour and HX Tour 56 product line. These were the precursor to the Pro V1 and other premium golf balls we know today. GG bought a ton of these off of Callaway. I bought 15 dozen and they are my gamer along with the Cally HX tour 56 (I just bought 10 dozen of these). The great thing about the new urethane multi layer balls is if you keep them in your house they will last for years.

Go buy some today. The steal of the century!
