graphite vs steel
what up dudes! just wondering if anyone has any experience in the stock steel shaft on the v (dynalite gold) as compared to the stock graphite shaft. currently, i have the graphite in reg flex and i want to get them in the steel shaft. there's two at the shop........the 3 in stiff and the 5 in reg flex steel shaft. would i notice a big change and difference if i'm going from the 3 and 5 reg flex to a stiff and reg flex in steel?

holla back soon! doing it tonight!

I'm probably too late, but I went to the range last Sunday and had a stock graphite stiff shaft in my 4 wood and a regular flex in my 7 wood. I loved the way the 4 wood felt. I was dead center everytime about 220+/- yards out there. My regular flex sucked, I had no control. I bought the thing on a whim, because it was priced at $85 because the place was going out of business. I should not be hitting a regualr flex because my swing speed is around 105-109.

To answer your question, yes, I noticed that the steel shaft was dull plain and not any fun to hit, it was flat. The graphite shaft seemed to zip the ball out there. I don't think anybody should have anything but graphite in there woods, but that is strictly my opinion.

that's what i think also........woods should be graphite......but the reg flex in my woods (stock shaft) seems wobbly......and i'm not doing the full swing thing........im just swinging it a couple feet to the left and right....so it go me thinking that maybe i should go with a stiff flex..........

i notice that you have a 4 and 7...........is this setup just a personal preference? how's that setup different from a 3 and 5? so if i would to go with a 3 and 5 fww, what hybrid should i be looking at.....how about a 4 and 7 fww, what hybrid should i be looking at? thanks for the info dude!

holla! peace!

I get more loft off the deck with these and feel more accurate. If you go with the 4 & 7 fww then pick up a 23* (Sonartec) hybrid to replace your your 4 iron unless you can hit it with good consistency. I tried this idea from an article that was written in last months Golf Magazine, so far it has worked. I hit my 4 iron pretty good so I'm kind of on the fence, as far as a hybrid goes, but that is what they recommend. Good luck.

I'm on the other side of the fence. I use a TaylorMade V-Steel 4-wood with a the Dynamic Gold Lite stock shaft. I've always preferred steel in my fairway woods. The slightly heavier weight keeps me from swinging out of my shoes and the shorter shaft length makes me a little more accurate. I've personally found negligible loss (maybe 5 yards?) between a graphite and steel shaft. The V-steel 4 wood has been one of the best fairway woods I've ever owned. It's an absolute rocket!

My driver is the only club that has a graphite shaft. I've bout TMade woods with graphite shafts and have changed to steel shafts. They are 1/2 shorter which is easier to control. You give up about 5 yards of distance, but gain 5-10 yards of accuracy. Also, the steel shafts will be much more consistent than the graphite shafts. If you need a lighter shaft like my dad go graphite. If you can handle an extra 25-30 grams of weight then my suggestions is steel. They're also cheaper too. In fact I picked up a TMade 5 wood yesterday with the TT steel shaft and love it.

yeah.....i'm thinking about making the change.......but instead of a 3 and 5, i'm probably going to go with a 4 and 7 in steel. i went over the to shop on friday night to put the order in for my 2006 ogio edge bag and saw that he only has the 3 and 5 in steel, but i beleive one of them is a reg flex and the other is a stiff flex........how much difference in flex for steel between reg and stiff (dynamic gold i beleive)
