X stiff on a driver

So, i have been playing stiff shaft for my drivers past years(and still do). I play diamana stiff on my 14 tm dual tp and 904HB stiff on md 17 and px 5.5 on my irons.

saw some good deal on a bridgstone J33r driver with X- stiff and i decided to give it a try... i bought it and took it to the range and hit some balls...

my current drier is 983E with 9.5 and this one is 8.5 loft. the trajectory is definitely lower but it's not TOO low, and the T i was using was kinda low for this 420CC head anyways. the distance is about the same. and the feeing is a little muted than the speeder 553 on my 983E.

the problem is...i'm sending everything to the right. not too bad slices...but all unwanted fades..(at least that 's i'm calling :huh: ) I know this is due to the stiffer flex on the shaft for my swing speed...

so i was wondering, what shaf flex you play on your driver. I'd like to know it with your handicap, and the height(or weight) and the age.... am i asking too much private info here ??? (cool)

HC = 15, 5' 9", 150 lbs. driver carry = 240

I play an x and im 5,8 120 lbs and a 6 handicap. How big you are doesnt have much to do with what shaft to play but more along the lines of swing speed, loading characteristics, and what type of dispersion you are looking for

im playn a v2 75 X and im 16, 6'0' and 150 pounds and carry 280-285.kk's right the shaft doesnt have anything to do with how big you are, its about the load you put on the shaft and SS and a whole load of other factors

I play an X. When I played a stiff i would hoock the ball. The X got rid of that. It also doesn't ballon on me anymore witch is good. I have a stiff in my 3 wood and I hit it so high. I need to put a X in that. If your slicer the new driver that means that your not closing the face (making it square at impact). I would suggest a stiff shaft. Usually if you only carry the ball 240 you would not need a X more like a Lite stiff or even a regular. Some tour players like Luke Donalds don't even play an X so don't feel bad if thats not the right shaft for you.

I play a UST V2 75 X in my R5 Tp 9.5 driver and a Fujikura Pro 95 x tipped in my taylor made 3 wood. Play an x in all of my clubs everything has been tipped extra over normal amount bc i play it short and want the stiffness. Height 6' 140 age 17. My swing speed is about 120 with a driver and just over 100 6 iron. Id say if your blocking it right shaft is just too stiff, when switching i reccommend getting something as close to your old clubs as possible, at least thats what i do but i like continuity when i make a switch to a new set of clubs newer driver etc.

if you are only carrying it 240 and leaving it to the right you are playing too stiff of a shaft. have you lost much distance since swithcing??

I play an X in my driver and 3 Wood.

 

120ish SS usually a 290-300+ carry (if no wind)

 

240 carry is WELL too low for an X. Have you tried a Stiff? Your 15 and your carry is no where near what an X should be. I used a S up until last year and had the same carry on my drive as I do now.

 

Just make sure your not trying a X-Shaft just to say you use an X. Unless your SS is over 110 you should not have an X.

Basically it said Stiff/Regular on most results. Don't rush into X-Stiff Shafts if they hurt your game.

I usually play stiff flex in my driver, but I picked up a 975J a few years ago with a 6.5 Rifle steel shaft in it out of the used rack. This thing is long and straight. I'm 6'6" / 240 , but kinda arthritic so not the most limber. With a 10.5 degree loft, this has a perfect ball flight without ballooning.

Everyone needs to play the lightest and least stiff shaft they can control. For some this might be XXX or regular. Swing speed will not tell you the whole story. Personally my swing speed is 110-112 which calls for X but I like the feel of my Speeder 757 in stiff. The Speeder is also a low spinning and low torque shaft.

 

I recently reshafted my Callaway FT-3 back up driver with a Fuji Vista Tour 70 in X flex and I hate the club now. I use to love the feel and control but I lost all feel for the club head when I went to this shaft.
