Just booked a buddies trip to Barton Creek in Austin for February. The trip is usually to Vegas but issues arose so destination was changed this year.

 

Who's played it??? How is it, which course u like the best?? Also things to do in Austin at night and where to get best stake??

Haven't played the barton creek courses but there is a ton to do in Austin at night. 6th street for a famous bar/club scene, comedy, live music all over the place. I'd recommend going to see esther's folly on 6th,it's hilarious. If you want another course to try while your there Crystal Falls is a pretty unique course that's a blast to play. It's extremely narrow with tons of elevation changes. Think hitting tee shots on a couple par 3s off of cliffs. Just look up reviews for local steakhouses, there are quite a few but I haven't tried many high end steakhouses unfortunately.

Barton Creek has several courses.... The Canyons is the best and toughest imo. Foothills is the oldest and good, located right there at the resort. The Crenshaw course is also located there but not very special -- a pure resort course and not very demanding. BC Lakeside is about 30 minutes away and a pretty good course, one I'd rank third.

As for things to do in Austin. Bring your running shoes and jog Town Lake. Bring your jeans and a bit of patience and hit the Warehouse District just west of Congress and 2nd street. Tons of things to do....bars, clubs, lots of music. Google the chamber site, Austin 360 or just 'things to do in Austin'.
Hit mexican food as much as you can. Try Stubbs or The Salt Lick (or the County Line near BC) for bbq at night. Uchi for sushi. Lucy's for an interesting take on fried chicken. Eddie V's for seafood. Flemings, III forks for steaks. There are a bunch of really, really good restaurants and food trailers are not necessarily to be avoided. The downtown area can be a neat place at night but be a bit cautious around 6th street -- it is not a place to be after hours.
Traffic at most times, can be an issue as well.
