Recommended Posts

switched up putters, I love my kingston, the Roll and feel is phenomenal, but been testing putters with Full Offest, for whatever reason Im more accurate with those. Im right eye dominate, not sure if that has something to do with it.

Went back to this old guy - learned to play with this putter - few strips of lead tape and new pingman and its been made ready for duty.

Made some adjustments to the MP4's - Finally got the lengths and swing weights fixed by Mizuno. Worked with my fitter on Trackman to adjust the lie angles, Pretty much went +2* on mizuno standard.

Got to actually hit them on grass, divots are cleaner and not toe heavy any longer. Though, I need some more practice time with them, my release doesnt feel as crisp.
Fuel is Getting a new Grip on it, I tried midsized for WHATEVER reason, I should know better. Back to the ole std Lamkin Crossline Full Cord

Im guessing thats a 460 head, actually not 100% sure, I just like the 9.7* loft, 3 open in the std setting, 194 g head, and 58.4 lie angle. Im great with a 2 iron and 3w, but put the freakin ball on an elevated tee, and I go to hell in a hand basket it at times off the box.

LOVE, just love the feel and performance of my RBZ S2 proto 400cc head, but I am going to try the USGA max and see how that works.

Going to test the head and shaft combos see what comes out on top.

From what I read it was a rare ping tour issue / WRX piece that made it onto the bay, went for 700 bones. Would love it if they made it retail

Got this new head on trackman, added about 4-5 grams of hotmelt, small lead strip of tape, head is now 200 g - ish, 44.5 with the AD DI 8x, its swing weight out at D3-4

Does not sound Tinny anymore, but more solid feel and great sound

Got about 165 mph BS, 11. 2 launch, 2300-2570 rpm spin, .5 AOA to about +1.5

had couple 168-169 mph - Much more fogiving than my 400 cc proto Stage 2 head.

While ive stated I love my proto 400head, for some reason, if you put the ball on an elevated tee, I have trouble with great contact. The 460cc gives that little bit of extra forgiveness at high speed on a 2" peg helps me out.

Wow, you found a 400 cc Proto head, take it for what its worth, there where only, supposedly , 10 made of the LOFT (#.# )* made. Feels and sounds awesome, thought I am testing some larger heads. Spin and flight are great, your going to like it.

Back when I purchased my MB 712s I bought two test irons, 4 and 6 iron, to play a couple of rounds with as I was fear fully of a full set of blades of blades, moving from mp 63s to mb 712s turned out it was really not that much of a reach. Those two irons test irons, I used to test shafts, lengths, lies, etc. One shaft experiment was a C Taper X , which I hit well and tested nicely , and the numbers where very close to the X100s so I went with the x1s, as I didnt want to pay the upcharge

In come these new irons, Had tested C Taper X in my MB712 set and again got some good numbers and decided to make the switch - while I loved my MB 712s, the cost to reshaft was great, also building the clubs to reach the D4 swing weight (C Taper Constant weight takes a little more weight in heads to get a higher swing weight), which with mizunos heavy heads made getting to my requested spec easier. The biggest decision to switch was the C Taper Xs ability to execute that that low boring and spin shot. Also, hitting a high fade isnt tremendously difficult to flight with these shafts.
Got to say after continued play with the C Taper X, whole different animal than the x100's ,

This might make zero sense, but with the C Taper , I can feel the L in the back swing, I really know where the club is.
I agree wholeheartedly! I've played both and love that I "feel" the b=club best with the C Tapers

Probably the only more idiotic purchase I could have made was a Hammer X, but I bought a new head only SLDR 8* to experiment with. Had a SLDR 430 9* for a while but hit it well, really well initially then got to where I just absolutely struggled with it. Ive toyed around with stock SLDR 9.5's(FCT to all the way lower) and hit those well on trackman. So here goes my $150 experiment

Anyone sell just the toe screws and drilled plates?

They are hard to describe , but hell to try to get the swing weight right because of the constant weight shaft. Caused me to switch to Mizuno b.c. they have the heavier head options vs Titliest

Nice Mizzis. They are beautiful sticks.

Did you/do you play golf at VT? I played 1989-93. Program is solid now. Glad to see us top 20 most years! Go Hokies!

I was 1998 to 2002 - I am a pittsburgh / Birmingham Al native, ended up in Blacksburgh for college, and I did live in NOVA for a bit after school, but now in Texas.

Thanks for the bag props

I wish I had the game for college golf played when I was younger, but was more a football player - a knee and shoulder surgery later, closest i ever got was playing the river course. At the Players Championship my buddies and I did run into Johnson Wagner on the course Friday, he saw we where VT Alumni , and actually spoke with us a bit during his round. He gave us some VT swag out of his bag, his caddie and him could not have been nicer.

Trimmed weight, removed the toe cover, drilled the hole, adding 10 grams of hot melt to the rear of the club

Just hitting it with lead tape, sliding weight removed, got some half way decent results , and the club was at C7-8 ish swing weight with just the lead tape.

8* head opened to 1.5* or at least thats what it says

La 10-12* @ 112 mph AOA -1 to -0.5 (need to work on that), using the lower loft I actually was swinging the club faster and at less of a downward angle of attack. spin was around 2900-2800

Enter "The Death Star"

210 g head weight - 10g hotmelt - place at the back of the head
346g total club weight @ 44.5"

Feels amazing, strong launch for an 8* head opened up 1.5*

More testing required and the ultimate gauge; how many fairways
