A few questions on some new '08 balls as suggested by GolfBallSelector

A little confused.
Hey guys,

I just headed back to GolfBallSelector.com since they updated their info. I filled out the info as usual, as accurate as posible.

Personally I've picked balls that are for higher spin players. That is to say I have to have my swing really 'on' to get my drives below 3K RPM. I also have an average driver swing speed. I do not really care about 'feel' in balls.

That being said, I naturally gravitated towards low spin driver "distance" oriented balls that still maintained respectable wedge spin. Right now my preferences have been '08 Nike One Black, '08 Taylormade TP Red, and the current TM V1x.

Now Selector.com says none of those balls should be in my top 5 considerations! And only one suites my top 10 considerations. Does this list make sense to a guy with my preferences? :

1 (100%) Bridgestone Tour B330s - Seriously? I thought this was for guys with wicked swing speed, and low spin???
2 (87%) TM '08 TP Black - I've been playing the '08 TP Red. I thought the black was for low spin players???
3 Srixon Z-URS - Nice feel, but I thought this wasn't much for distance last year so I didn't buy any this year.
4 Wison Zip - No idea about this ball.
5 Bridgestone E6+ - oddly enough the E6+ makes my top 5, however last year's version did not even make top 10. Weird.
6 Nike One Platinum '07 - The '08 version rates way lower on the list. Never would have guessed either model for a higher spin player and to rank higher than the '08 Black? I found this definitely surprising.

Down at #9 was the ProV1x which I like now. 10 was another Nike ball that beat out the NOB, the Nike Power Distance Soft '08.

So I thought this was a mixed bag. Am I wrong about the Bstone B330s? I was completely surprised about the NOP (07) as well. These suggestions surprised me so much, I retook the questionaire getting as accurate as I could, and decreased the 'Feel' category and eventually put the emphasis on distance, and then short game spin.... same results.

Anyway, I have been having fun experimenting with balls, surprisingly I've hardly lost any this year so at this point I'm just buying balls to test them. Any thoughts on my comments? Am I out to lunch on some of these balls?

That may hold true for the B330, but the B330S is one of the lowest compression (75 comp.) tour-grade balls on the market.and works quite well for those with moderate swing speeds.

Quick question... I just picked up a sleeve of B-330s balls. I still have a feeling I don't have the swingspeed for it... but my question is: which ball is known to spin more on drives? The 330s or the 330.

I'm still trying to figure out my ballselector recommendations. Some are higher spin models, some lower. Like I said, I typically go for the V1x equivalent, but am open to new things, new balls. I haven't given Bstone a real shot since the E6, E5.

My selections were VERY similar to yours. In fact, swap the E6+ for the Wilson 50 and our top six would have the same selections, just different ordering. I too had the B330S as my 100% pick and my swing speed is a hair lower than yours. I played around with the weighting of the selection criteria a bit and what often happens is the Zip becomes my top pick. While they're more expensive in Canada, they're still reasonable so they may end up being a good choice for me. I bought sleeves of the Zip and the B330S just out of curiosity, but I hope I don't like either right now because I've snapped up so many different balls on sale that I don't even know what to play from one day to the next. I really don't know how I'm supposed to gain any consistency when distance, spin rate and cover hardness changes every time I play  . I'm looking forward to hearing your reactions to the B330S.

Spin on drives or irons would be (relatively) the same, no ?

According to the Bridgestone site the B330-S spins more. Normally more spin means more height and hangtime. If you already spin it too much and hit it too high you need to bring the flight and RPM's down. That would mean you should try the B330.

TM RED, B330, V1X, NOP, all lower spinning, lower flight than their brothers.
