Searching for a very stable Fairway Wood and Rescue Shaft. Any Ideas?

Hey Guys,

 

I´m looking for a stable Shaft for my Fairway Wood and Hybrid. My Swing has changed and I need a stable Shaft with very tight dispersion.

I´m a good Ballstriker, but have Issues with hitting Rescues. My Hcp is 5.

 

If it helps i tried the following Shafts in some Drivers

 

- Fuji Fuel 60 stiff in Covert Tour 1.0

 

- Accra Tour CB 55 M4 in RAZR Extreme

 

- standart Fubuki in stiff in an Alpha (Callaway)

 

The Fuel is very very stable for me. Definitely lower Launch for me than the Accra. I hit good Balls with it.

The Accra feels phenomenal in all Aspects, but with the 10,5 Razr Head it launches too high.

 

The standart Fubuki in the Alpha Head is way to loose (Feel wise) and not stable. I sprayed the Ball everywhere.

 

I hit my 3 Wood from the Tee and not from the Deck if that helps.

 

So what you Guys think? Which Shaft is a good Option.

 

I read about the new Mizuno 850 with the Motore Speeder 6.3 TS. Very good price and Shaft, I think.

 

What´s your thoughts?

Pretty much any Tour Issue shaft with a TX flex. It don't get much more stable than that.

Might take a while to get used to the feel though.

Shafts do not really have any inherent amount dispersion for the vast majority of players. That is simply a matter of how well the shaft specs fits the needs of your swing and your personal preferences.

Now, if you have a particular preference for the feel of a stiff tipped shaft, that's certainly fine and a valid reason to find one to match that preference. But just be careful as it is potentially possible to go "too stiff" - which can become a source for problems as well as "too soft". Unfortunately, you wont know until you actually try something so there will always be some risk of buying w/o trying it first.

Difficult to say. They are pretty much all firm tipped options (at least the ones I'm familiar with) but the butt/mid section profiles can vary quite a bit - and those parts of the shaft also influence the feel. Someone with Tom Wishon's bend profile software might be able to plug in one of the ones that you like and find other matches that are similar.

Whiteboard for lower launch, Blueboard for higher launch. I play white X in driver, blue X in 3 wood, white S (stock Titleist) in hybrid. Tiger seems to be favoring the Diamana shafts again. Enjoy!

Aldila NV Protopype, 80X is a beastly shaft.

Look into the Diamana Thump for hybrids. Best hybrid shafts ever IMO. Very stable, low launch and spin. I still have them in my 2 and 3 hybrid. For fairway wood shafts, I would recommend graphite design. The DI, MT, MJ and BB line are all very stable and offering different launch and spin. Fuji's speeder evolution line is also very good.

There is an SLDR Driver with Motore Speeder 6.0 in X on its way. What you think of putting this one in the Fairway Wood?

Can anyone compare that beast with the Oban, or Whiteboard and so on?

I love the P95, but to be honest, you have to be a beast to use it, IMO. Oban kiyoshi purple is a good fairway wood shaft. Just remember to tip it a bit or else it can get a little sloppy dispersion wise.

Oban Kiyoshi Purple was nothing for me in the Driver. Can´t control it. The Accra Tour Z CB in the same Head was way better.

This makes me miss my Cleveland Launcher 3 with a Bimatrix Stiff in it. Man that ball just took off and went like stink.

Look not further than the Fujikura .2 tour spec in either the 7.2 or 8.2 for a fairway and the .8 hb tour spec is the best hybrid shaft on the market in my opinion.

Aldila RIP Phenom 70s in my 3W. Love this shaft! Very stable with mid flight. LOVE IT!

Some of these recommendations seem a bit on the beefy side (telephone poles), given your light, stiff flex driver shafts. Maybe you should provide more info about your swing.

My SS with the Driver is between 104-107 mph and I normally play stiff Shafts, and not X-Flex Shafts. My Hcp is 5 if that helps.

A 70 or 80 Protopype will launch low, is super stable and has one of the stiffest tips I've run across.
