golf courses in australia

Going to be traveling to Sydney in 2 weeks for work. Will have enough time to get one round in.
What's the consensus pick for only one round in Australia...NSW?

If you are going to be stuck in Sydney, try for NSW or The Lakes.

If you can travel - I would either (a) get to the sandbelt in Victoria (try for Royal Melbourne but settle for any of the top 3 or 4), or (b) go to Tasmania and play Barnbougle Dunes.

Anyone been to Parkwood in Brisbane? There was a [url="http://www.groupon.com.au/deals/brisbane/-parkwoodgolf-/715841327"]voucher[/url] for it a while back on Groupon, but I didn't get it because even though it was a pretty good deal, I didn't want to waste my time if I wasn't going to enjoy the course. Since I don't live in the area, I wasn't sure about it. My sister lives there and I go visit every so often, which is why I thought the voucher may be cool, but she doesn't golf and had no idea.

Another voucher question....there's another [url="http://www.groupon.com.au/deals/sydney/-cabramattagolfclub-/715868766"]deal[/url] in sydney, where I live, but I've never been to this one either. No one answered my last one but I'm hoping someone will answer this one? Is it a good golf course?

If your ever in the SW of Australia (thats south of Perth) try this little beauty. $20 for as many holes as you like. Its only a 9 holer but got to be the best 9 hole course in Oz. Binningyup GC.

If you want to combine Kangaroos and golf try Anglesea GC . A costal course 1 and 1/2 hours drive from Melbourne. Ordinary course but hundreds of Roos on some holes.

In Melbourne any of the sand belt courses are great but RM , Kingston Heath and Metropolitan are the cream of the crop. You can easily spend a week on the Mornington Peninsula playing golf, many courses. I am a member at the National. 3 fantastic courses and practice facilities to die for. They are tough when the wind is up and cold this time of the year especially with a strong SW wind blowing straight off the Southern Ocean (Bass Straight)

Melbourne and surrounds are a golfing Mecca . Agree with above poster re Barwon Heads, great links course. Is minutes drive from Anglesea also.

I was looking at the websites for NSW and Canberra....do they really only accept play on Mondays and Thursdays? I land at 1130 on a Monday and leave early Thursday.

Any recommendation on courses up near Cairns? Thursday we fly up to Cairns for 3 days.

Cairns GC is a good course at a pretty reasonable rate. If you've got transport and can get up to Port Douglas, Palmer Sea Reef is excellent too.
