Anyone play them, have any experience with them, cant find much on the forums about them, and no review, only for the older tx4.

Currently play the ProVx and HX Tour 56 but am looking to change it up.

I've heard it is comparable to all the top end balls - seem tough to find with the major online retailers.

Ah crap, I was all confused. The original ball was the Tx4 Tour. The new one is the Tx4 Pro Tour. I thought I had found the motherload as the Golfsmith by me is selling the original Tx4 Tour for $19.97. But at that price I cant complain, at that price I may have to buy a gross

Wow, played with them today, and it was great. Id' say it is very comparable to the ProVx. Hit it as long and maybe a bit straighter, and had about as much short game spin as it as well. I will say it feels like a harder ball when putting, but only because of the sound made, not actual feel. It also does scuff a bit easier, usually i'll tear up a proVx by the end of a round, with the wilson, it was about 14 holes.

All in all, for 19.97 a dozen i'm going back to buy 5-6 more dozen of these at golfsmith. Just found my new/old ball for the season.

Just ordered a dozen TX4 Pro Tour's yesterday at http://www.fiddlersgreen.com/product.cfm?id=29623. Look at box and it looks like it says Tour on it.

I'm still playing the wilson smartcore straight distance ball. Great all around ball, outdrives the pro v's. Hit one of my longest drives ever today with it. Picked up a few 15 ball packs for $8.50 each! Don't laugh until you get a chance to hit one. They putt well and are pretty good around the green. I play into very firm greens and they usually hit and stop with 3 to 12 feet depending on the club. Not in premium ball quality but for the price you cant beat it. Also an excellent wind ball, just wants to go straight. Reviews here on the straight distance http://www.golfreview.com/cat/balls/wilson...06_2943crx.aspx

Wilson 50 and Zip are very good too. Still evaluating them, really haven't had consistent Temps in the 70's yet to see how they all play. The fifty is excellent for temps below 50*F. Played one of my lowest rounds this year when the temp was 41* with the Fifty.

Not changing my username but
had a hole in 1!

Do most retailers sell it? I was doubting "straight" balls until I hit a found Top Flite then hit it and was shocked at how long and straight it was. My Pinnacle Exceptions are supposedly really good based on reviews. They are great around the greens and in close but I don't feel I am hitting it straight and I am not terrible hitting drives on the range with crappy balls. ???

The Tx4 Pro is the same as the Tx4 "improved" seen last year, but in a different packaging.

I'd describe the new Tx4 by saying it's got the best of both the ProV1 and V1x, i.e. it has the same low spin as the V1x off the driver, but it spins more off the irons and wedges, like the ProV1, which I like.

I agree it's slightly less durable tha n the ProV1/x. Still, It has become my ball of choice, regardless of price, because it does everything right (and it's one of the best balls out there in the wind). Putts very true too (all Wilson Staff balls are "balanced").

Driver : Srixon Z745 10.5* Stiff / Callaway Bertha Mini 1.5 Stiff
3W : Callaway X2 Hot Tour Stiff
5W : Adams XTD-ti 15* Stiff
3Hi : Adams XTD-ti 20* Stiff
4Hi : Adams XTD-ti 23* Stiff
Irons : 4-7 Wilson Staff FG Tour V2, 8-PW Wilson Staff FG59
50* : Wilson Staff PMP
56* : Wilson Staff PMP
Putter : Wilson Staff 8802

Balls : Wilson Staff FG Tour / Srixon Q Star Yellow

You can't argue with the TX4 for performance and more importantly, price.

A friend of mine was given a load of these a few weeks ago and we all went out and tried them on the course. I'm not going to say that they're better than any of the other premium balls on the market but they can certainly compete with a lot of them. Good distance off the tee, workable, decent spin, soft enough to chip and putt with and I thought they were pretty durable.

I've still got a few in my bag and since I very rarely play competitive golf nowadays, I'm more than happy to put them in play. Don't get me wrong, the Pro-V1 (and occasionally the Bridgestone B330) is still my ball of choice but the Wilson has actually made me think twice.

As I say, good ball, good price. What more can we ask for?

I played these for the first time last week, found last years box (the black box with no gold trim) at Sports Auth for $20. It was the first non 2 piece ball I have ever played, and not surprisingly I had my best round of the year. Unfortunately that has been the only box I have found. I am going to give the PX3 and the Zip a try this year as well, both of which you can find at Walmart for under $20. The reason I have always played a two piece ball is because I could not justify paying $40+ for a premium 3/4 piece ball based on my skill level. Now I have found a happy medium in Wilson.

Yep. The Tx4's definitely don't make a nice sound, especially with the driver.

As much of a W/S guy as I just don't like the Tx4s. With the irons I think they are pretty good, but they ballooned more than any ball I have used with the driver.
