I notice a few people in this thread have flown into Eugene, so had a quick question. I'm going up to Bandon at the end of March, but have waited to book air travel because I want to fly into Eugene, but so far plane travel has been crazy expensive. Any experienced flyers know what to expect here? Was expecting to be able to book something for in between the cost of flying into Portland (which I've done before, but don't have time this time around) and North Bend (which doesn't have return flights that would get me there in under 24 hours). None of these Eugene flights look at all full, so I'm a little confused on why the prices are so high...Any feedback would be much appreciated!

I putted with a hybrid from off the greens at Bandon with a lot of success and only a few bad shots. Might want to try that.

This^^^. You will want to have practiced this shot (or any other low running shot from off the green, even including a putter) from very tight lies.

The hardest shot at Bandon, for me, was the touchy half wedge shots. Anything from 35-75 yards was really tough due to the tight lies and firm greens. Not much margin for error to clip it right and get it to stop.

And often to an elevated green, so if you chunk it, it rolls back to your feet; and if you blade it, it's in the gorse (or off a cliff).

There are some really hard approach shots on those courses. Which has made me concentrate on course management and setting up my current shot in terms of where I want to be hitting my next shot from. It's what I love about the design of the courses. Just hitting it as far as I can is rarely the best tactic.

"take that, you miserable little white swine!"

Agreed.

Thankfully I prefer to bump and run it anyways. Left the 60 at home. I'm simply not good enough to be hitting those shots so precisely with a flop wedge.

Yes, very difficult to get those to stop even if you are used to it...almost have to gauge it like a pitch shot and plan for lots of rollout.

Did anyone have trouble with the deep bunkers and soft sand? Wondering if a wide sole lob wedge would be worth putting in the bag.....

No need, this will be my 5th trip and I take the 58 out of the bag. If needed I just really open the 54 (which part of me is tempted to not bring)
