I never use the stock head covers. I really don't want anyone knowing what I'm playing. Too many scum bags in the world today that want to take other peoples toys!!

This is a great point. Didn't really start thinking this way till I went the way of custom covers. OEM covers are basically advertising what's in your bag.

This!! The majority of the courses I play are public courses where you have to leave your bag at the front of the clubhouse to go in and pay. Some courses I will just leave my clubs in my car until I paid, but others it would just take too long.

That's why I went with the knit covers from Ju Ju. When I played Scotty Cameron putters I would usually try to find a custom shop cover that didn't scream SC. A putter is likely the easiest club to steal out of a bag especially if your bag is close to a practice green. Person walks up as if they own the bag, grabs a couple balls and putter and walks off...

Black Club Glove headcover for Driver, 3W & putter. Some plain black sock type Nike headcover (with numbers I stitched from Rocket Tour) for 2 hybrids and 2 plain black sock ype Callaway headcover for the other 2 hybrids.
Feel this way is way is best, as I can concentrate in just playing golf, not worry about an OEM headcover gettig dirty, lost, beat up or the clubs being advertised for what model it is. Besides, the entire set looks all uniform, not a carnival of different designs and colors.

I use headcovers of my favorite sports teams. Im not worried so much about my clubs being stolen as much as I feel why should I give golf companies free advertising?

Spending more money for licensed golf accessories to give professional sports franchises free advertising is better how?

I have other headcovers on my driver, 3 wood and one of my two hybrids.

My reason is simple: Then it doesn't look quite as obvious when I ho a new driver.
[/quote]

Yeah, the not having the "what did you buy now?" comments has appeal, and part of the reason I've used non-OEM.

But mostly it's for a feeling of more security, especially when travelling. I've been using Back9 USA covers for a while, then was back to OEM. But reading this, and now that I've got G25 driver and fairway, I've gone back to the Back9 ones on driver fairway and hybrids and even ordered some spare driver/fairways today, seeing the Legend ones are on a bit of a sale. And they do look cool IMO.

I use clubglove ironcovers on my Muiras too, partly for the stealth security partly to protect them from dings.

I use an old old Adams Insight covers on my driver and 3 wood they are so old that the raised letters have fallen off. I like them because they split in half and have the magnetized ends easy to get on and off. On my old 7 wood I use an Alpha cover. I dont carry any hybrids. My putter is so old I dont even have a cover on it do not need one because it does not have a fancy insert or milled face

Update to this apparently rejuvinated thread. I had noticed what could have been the beginnings of shaft burn on one my my hybrids. I went back to OEM covers with socks for my woods and hybrids late last summer. I decided I preferred the shaft protection of the sock in anticipation of an extended vacation where there would be jostling with power cart golf. For my G20 hybrids that didn't have a sock, I went with the generic Ping 2014 hybrid covers with sock.

A bonus for spousal Brownie points though. I bought a new bag for my wife in September but she didn't like the colour combo with her Adams OEM covers. So I passed over my Back9 covers for woods and hybrids to her and she's happy - and her bag does look cool.

I wouldn't consider knitted covers in our West Coast climate. The OEM faux leather ones already take long enough to dry out when they get wet and they give a lot more head protection IMO.

I use OEM covers because haven't found any others that I really liked enough to spend money on.

For the people worried about advertising to thieves, I always have the rain hood closed on my bag, mostly to keep clubs from flying out when I pull my bag out of the trunk. I leave this on until I'm done paying in the clubhouse and then pull it off and stuff in my bag.

Never stock headcovers. For my every day SLDRs, I go with Cru Golf Pure White. It has a great vintage look, and the pure white is clean and sharp. I have a set of Hogan persimmon woods, and for those I have awesome gray, navy and red leather Titleist headcovers from the 70s. They're beautiful.

I know it's all about business today, but there are just too many logos...on the shirts, hats, bags, even in the rough on Euro tour events! The headcovers are no exception. The vintage style headcovers like Cru, Iliac, Stitch, etc. bring the game back to yesteryear before corporations had to have their name on everything and it was just about a classy look.

was looking at picking up those club glove hybrid covers. not really liking my stage 2 bright yellow that i have right now. how do you like them? club glove makes solid stuff and after all it is a head cover so how much could there really be to say about it, but just curious. Thanks.

I use Jan Craig's solely because I like the look of them and like the fact that they are less bulky than the OEM covers. Easy on, easy off. Having aftermarket covers block what clubs I am playing is just a minor benefit. But even then, I am carrying a set of forged irons and wedges so you could easily assume the woods are going to be nice.

I like them a lot. They do the job and don't take up much space. I don't even have to use the Velcro latch to keep them on.

I use AM&E padded covers on driver and putter - all black, no designs. Extremely padded/protected - no advertising - look boring as heck. Never had a problem. If I go play a public course - I put a rain cover on my bag.

More important for me to enjoy my own equipment than to brag about it to others - and advertise whose bag to steal. :)

the sumi-g headcovers are really good and provide excellent club protection but a bit on the heavy side...

i put them on in my casual rounds but replace them with lighter ones when i travel by air with my clubs...

i also use the stiff-arm with my travel cover whenever i have to go by air..
