ProV1X or Nike One Black??

Which is best for your game???
I have been a die hard fan for Titleist ProV1X golf balls for years . BUT...I recently bought some discounted 2007 Nike one black balls... All I can say is "WOW" These balls are 10-15 yds longer than the V1X but seems the spin is the same... I am seriously thinking of stocking up on the 07 model. What experiences have you guys had with the two... Thanks in advance for your comments...

I personally like the 2008 Black better than the 2007. It has a little higher ball flight, feels softer off all clubs including the putter, has excellent check around the green and for me, has terrific length. On a whim I played the V1X last week-end. I thought it was a pretty good ball, but I will be going back to the One Black for the rest of the season. I am really impressed with that ball!!!!

Thanks for the input. I actually tried a sleeve of the 08 NOB'S last week.. They are a lot softer and spin more as you said. My SS is 115 with the driver and I am a high spin player... The 07 NOB seemed to be a great feeling ball for me with less spin than the V1X. But I have always liked a little firmer feel off the putter... Not saying I am dumping the Titleist but who knows...LOL....Thanks again...

If your swing speed is 115, you might want to check out the platinum. That ball is built for high ball speed players. Nike has test material available that shows the Black is the longer ball up to 105 mph, but the Platinum is significantly longer at 115+. Something to think about, plus, it's softer than butter.

Thanks, I did not realize that. Like I said I bought the NOB's on a whim because they were on sale... I guess that is why Tiger is playing the platinum... Maybe I will give them a shot.......

Strictly speaking, it's the Black that is designed for higher swingspeeds. The NOP is an overall performance ball, like Tiger prefers. The black is like the pro v1x in comparison to the pro v1 (NOP).

I'd like to see the test material that disputes what their website has long preached and currently indicates. Not to mention my own experience. The NOP is long, but the Black and the Pro V1X are substantially longer for me. My SS is above 115.

Here's a picture of the stat area of the sheet, I won't be able to scan it until I get home. Basically, it says that the Platinum and the Black have basically the same distance at 115mph. No spin stats off the driver, but the Platinum spins a lot more for me, and I'm consistently 114-118 mph.

I prefer the NOB because actually i do not want too much spin, most of my short game shots are designed to check up and leak a little, with the prov1x, I was getting a little too much bite, and with the NOP, wayyy to much bite. The NOB is a great ball for all my other shots.

I have no problems playing either though ;)

what jmittens24 is claiming about the '08 NOP being longer than the NOB @115mph and faster was also mentioned to me by my Nike rep. he did say it varied from player to player, swing to swing so it's is by no means an absolute but does have merit.

The ball just doesn't physically doesn't compress as much until it gets hit with a certain amount of force, supposedly. Plus, the launch angle changes at the 115 mph stat if you read the fine print (11 at 115 vs 12 at 110) . I'm sure this gives a ton of roll out compared to the 110 mph stats.

Again, this is all Nike promo material, but they have no reason to be publishing false info. Keep in mind that this only applies to the 2008 models with the power transfer layer. I'll get a full scan of the page up tomorrow morning.

Great topic. Particularly since I am using both of those balls. FYI I was given by a Callaway rep the new Callaway HX Hot "Bite" ball and was really impressed. It is not one of there "Premium" balls, about $10/doz less, but I have to say, felt softer than the NOB, and I felt like it flew very very well. Worth a try for sure. I was very surprized!

I've played the '08 NOB quite extensively, and I'm extremely impressed. I've also played the Platinum for a couple of rounds, but it simply spins too much for me off the driver, and I have a harder time hitting it straight compared to the NOB. The NOB still has enough spin for me around the greens, and the feel off the putter is very nice.

I decided to buy a dozen of the new Callaway Tour iX balls 2 weeks ago, just to try them out. I've only played a couple of holes with them so far, but they're also very impressive. They feel a lot harder compared to the NOB, but off the driver they seem to fly lower with less spin. They feel like more of a distance ball compared to the NOB, but if you don't mind the hard(ish) feel, it's also a very nice ball.

I'm really liking both '08 ONE offerings. Surprisingly, I'm liking the Black more. It feels much softer than any of the premium balls made for distance and has excellent control and ball flight. The Platinum spins a lot more but I haven't seen too much of a distance difference. I use the Black in most situations and the Platinum if I'm playing a 'fast' track.

Ok, here's that scan as promised. It doesn't really add a lot more than what we've already been saying, but there's a little more data on accuracy, etc...

Oh, and sorry in advance for my piece of $#!T scanner.

I've played both trying to find "the ball" for my game. When I can shred a Nike One Black with a 3 iron, but the ProVI doesn't shred so much until I used my wedge, if push comes to shove I'd use the ProVI. For now I'll stick with the Bridgestone E5s. For me they do everything I want, and refuse to shred on my clubs.
