Make your own ball.

I would have hex dimple in dimple, no seam, 444 dimples, 12 layers, super soft urathan/balata cover, the core would be made of invisible super compressed gas from Venus. The overall compression would be adjustable, so would the ball flight with tiny dials. Also it would have a built in tracking/gps that I could use to find my ball in the unlikely event I hit a poor shot. Oh, and it would be in a color that no one has invented, and a stealth mode so others I am playing with can not get a read off my shots. It would have a raising motor to life it up before anyone gets to it, giving it a good lie anywhere, the legs of course would have to be retractable. This would work well with the on board camera, this would assure that it could move with its legs from behind a tree, bush, rock, ect. And a arrow for putting, nothing fancy. :)

I think I know your frustration....
The unending barrage a "new and better" balls without any scientific support leaves us all to our experiment and not surprisingly render differing opinions. Marketing claims form the base of the discussions but results vary widely.

I do wonder how ball manufacturers can seemingly improve upon physics each an every year.
Would the wunderkind at MIT or CalTech do this or would they optimize a dimple shape/pattern, cover material and thickness and inner layer(s) thickness, density and resilience properties for 80ish, 90ish and 100+ swing speeds and call it a day (possibly for several years)?

[/quote]If you add up all the distance I could get when you add up club claims (figuring each year you get a driver that you get 15 more yards, mine is a 2005) , swing claims ,and ball claims I should have no trouble driving the ball at least 550 yards this spring! :)

I would be stoked if a transponder/relay chip were able to be in the center of the ball keeping track of stats and having a locator, without affecting performance somehow.

Actually that exists now and you can find it at Top Golf. The challenge is absent perfect placement, it impacts flight and performance.

When I started playing, I played whatever I found. Then I played Pinnacle rocks. I had a bad slice, but the ball that helped me was the Titleist DT Carry, with ONLY 252 dimples. Can't spin too much with a low dimple count. I still sent a few deep in the woods, but most would stay on the fairway. That would be a great beginners ball. Wedge shots weren't too bad, just had to allow for a little runout, but on occasion, I could get a little check on a small chip. Where is that ball????

Calaway Diablo Octane 10.5 R-flex
Calaway Diablo Octane 3 Wood R-flex
Snake Eyes Viper 3 Hybrid 18 deg R-flex
Calaway X-20 irons 4-Pw(uniflex)
Cleveland 900 Forged RTG (LB) 52-56-60
Carbite ZH-1 putter(super stroke 3.0)

I know, the emphasis was on not affecting performance. I don't lose many balls, but there is a track I play now and then that has a hole with a very blind downhill tee shot. The smart play is long iron or 4 wood, but I can just about reach that green and it works most times, but every now and then the ball is on a perfect line and disappears. I wanna know where that badboy went.
