Headed to Pebble for the AT&T

Recommended Posts

Hey y'all,

So a buddy and me headed to PB for the AT&T. Just looking for any feedback on MUST places to eat, see, etc. We are going to be playing MPCC, Spanish Bay and I think Pasadera (Nicklaus course). My buddy is about a 15, me 25 HC.

Thanks!

Not sure - assuming the Dunes course since the Shore is part of the rotation. We have a local host who is arranging the golf.

They are about to redo the Dunes course. Waiting on permits; apparently it is very difficult out in this part of california to get the permits. They hope to start construction as soon as possible from what I hear. Fun course, you will enjoy it. You can go to dinner at the halfway house on the Dunes course, they have outdoor fire pits, good drinks and food. I had a great time there. It is very busy for dinner. Probably the only halfway house I know that does this.

A cocktail outside on the deck at sunset is a must at the Mission Ranch.

Another nice view with a cocktail in your hand is the bar and patio area at spanish bay. Sit next to a fire pit and watch the bagpiper walk down the fairway at sunset. Close your eyes and you will think you are in Scotland.

Another must is the Tap Room at Pebble Beach Lodge. It's small and sort of dark with lots of cool photos adorning the walls. If you are lucky, you will see a pro or celebrity in there as well. I just missed Arnold Palmer one day when he came in after a meeting to drink some wine in the back corner booth.

Downtown Carmel is cool because everything is walkable. One of my favorite places that won't break the bank is AW Shucks Oyster house. It's small, but serves up some pretty good seafood and cocktails.

Great food, great setting. If you get a cocktail you have to get the pecan pie to go with it. The best I've had

Yeah Spanish Bay is a definite since we are playing there. Cool info on the Tap Room at PB Lounge! That would be super cool. I love seafood too, so the Oyster House sounds great.

When I was there in 2013 we stayed at Spanish Bay, and I highly recommend it. My wife and I really enjoyed hanging out near the fire pits, watching the sunset, listening to the Scottish bagpiper, and downing a few adult beverages.

Tap Room and the Stillwater Grill were both really good. We sat a couple tables away from Don Shula and his wife when we ate at Stillwater. I was about 95% sure it was him, and then the manager came over to their table and said "how are you doing this evening, coach?".

Nice! Yeah I'm very excited about Spanish Bay. Course looks amazing and the outdoor layout looks so cool.

Echo how great the Dunes Shelter House is for dinner !! Stayed in a house in the MPCC neighborhood over Christmas this past year and we liked dinner at the Shelter House so much we went back for a second night ! Had pizzas around one of the firepits one night and ate indoors the second. And what a great view if you get there before the sun goes down. Greatest "halfway house" in the game.

I went to the AT&T about 7-8 years ago, no other tourney like it...a few things:

- plus 1 on the Mission Ranch, go there on Sat nite...you should be able to catch a couple of celebs that missed the cut there, Clint & Andy Garcia were trading off on the piano all nite.

- if you go down to big sur, have a happy hour cocktail at the Rocky Point Restaurant, it's on a cliff right along the ocean.

-bring a picnic basket with you to PB, after the last group finishes everyone is allowed to walk down the fairways at their leisure...some took a bottle of wine to # 7 to watch the sunset.

- 17 mile drive is closed, do not let it stop you from walking north to the Lone Cypress, take a step over the low fence near #15 at Cypress Point & take a picture. Then hop on a shuttle at Spyglass to get home.

- and follow Bill Murray (obviously)

And try to enjoy yourself. :-P

AW Shucks is a great place, there's also an awesome Italian restaurant on Dolores I believe, it's called Little Napoli. Shoot me a message if you need any help, I'm down there quite often so I can possibly help ya out with any logistics
[/quote]

Thanks for the great recommendations - we hit both AW Shucks and Little Napoli and they were great. The whole trip was amazing
