nike one platinum?

I played the nop today. I seem to hit it better than nob but only have a driver swing speed of around 100. Why? They say you need a high swing speed. Any thoughts?

The NOP is a really great ball. It plays about 1/2 club longer for me than any other ball. Very solid feel and it spins really well. Almost too much though on short iron shots.

I have been trying the NOP for a few rounds now and have found this to be an interesting ball to play. For me, it plays about 10-15 yards shorter off the tee, 5-7 shorter off the irons. HOWEVER what it lacks in distance it makes up in spin, one of the reasons I am losing this distance is definitely due to the high trajectory caused by the spin.

 

I am finding that into the wind the ball is much shorter than others, but down wind, its equal on distance. Hitting irons with these are amazing! I can stop ANY full iron shot on a dime, no matter what. One thing that I have noticed is that around the greens, I would say inside of 50 yards or so, its tougher to make the ball spin. The ball still spins quite a bit, more than most, but less than my PRO V1x. Now, for all the spin I get on every other shot I hit with this ball, I would think that green side spin would be higher? Has anyone else noticed this? Could it be that with the pitch and chip shots because I am not compressing the ball enough thats where I am losing the spin? I know that most short game spin comes from the cover of the ball, but I will add that this cover is much more durable than the PRO V1x.

 

Has anyone else noticed this? I must add that I absolutely love this ball, the control with iron shots is phenomenal. Just curious to know what others think....

I have put the NOP into play recently and I think it is a fantastic ball, on a par with the B-330S (but different). In a strong headwind I might come up a little shorter than usual, but...the very soft feel and spin characteristics are worth it. I don't want to overstate the loss in driving distance--I was still outdriving all my buddies with this ball! On approaches and around the greens, the NOP is stellar.

No notable distance loss here. If you hit down on the ball , it spins ridiculously . Low screaming one hop stops. Put the ball back in stance , hit down on it .

IMO the best ball of 2008.

I played the Nike One for about 6 months and also found it to be about 5-10 yards shorter than other premium balls. Golf or Golf Digest did an article on balls recently and their data showed the Nike One to have a much much greater spin rate than most of the other balls in the test. It also showed the Nike to be (I think) 9 yards shorter than the other premium balls.
