Premium balls for slow swinger

Slow swinger and play with a premium ball?
I am a slow swinger (about 80 mph). I use to play Srixon Trispeed or AD333 and sometimes Titleist NXT Tour. I have also tried Srixon ZUR-S to get more control on the greens. Its a good ball, but maybe there is other good premium balls out there for us slow swingers?

A couple of years ago I played Callaway Hx Tour 56. Good and long ball, but not that much spin around the greens with my swing. Anyone "slow" out there who has tested the new Hx Tour i or ix?

What about the new TaylorMade balls Black and Red? I have heard you can benefit from them if you swing above 60 mph, is that really true?

And of course, I have played Titleist Pro V1. Long of the tee but to short of the irons for me. And yes, I have tested almost every low compression ball out there, but need less spin with the driver and more with the wedges than they can give me.

mstar,

The last thing I want to do is compare your swing with my daughter's, so don't take my comments that way please. I will say, for her, the Ben Hogan Tour Deep has been a very good ball. This plays very similiar to the old HX Tour I beleive (not positive) but she gets the best short spin and tee distance with it. An added bonus is you can usually find them for around 25 dollars a dozen.

I have no problem with that. I would like to find the best ball for my play and if that is a womens ball or if you have to compare my swing with a senior ( I will soon be there) or a womans swing, so be it. Maybe I have to take a look at the Hogan Tour Deep. Thank you.

My swing is just a little faster than yours, but not much. I purchased Nike's last year's One black, and also the new Top flight gamer. I really like the nike. I don't lose anything on them for distance, compared to the Titleist NXT that I used all last year. The Nike balls bite more, and I hold the greens alot better now. I am still testing the Gamer ball. If it can campare to these two, I will switch to it. The price is too good.

A friend gave me a couple of the Taylor Made, but it was the cheaper of their two models. I hit it pretty darn far, but they did not hold the green as well as the Nike.

I used to play the Tour 330S because it was straighter then other tour balls that I've tried and the performance around the green was outstanding. I stopped playing the Tour 330S because I simply felt that I didn't get enough distance with the woods/irons because of my slow swing.

Recently, I've been enjoying the Wilson Staff balls; they work very well for my swing. First, the 50: it is soft, flies high, long and straight, putts well and holds the green. When you hit it perfectly, it feels great (soft). While it's not a tour ball, it'll stop within 10 feet on a medium/hard green with a wedge/full swing. Second, the Wilson LUXE: differences to the 50 - is that it's softer and a little longer because it seems hotter off the club face; it'll roll more after hitting the fairway but spins just as well near the green.

My driver speed is about 95 when I try, but around 90 on average. I play the Srixon Z-URS and I love it. The new Callaway balls are pretty good, but I ripped them apart too quickly and I didn't like the feel when I putted. My buddy's dad plays with the TP Reds and his speed is probably the same as mine. Maybe try the gamer, I don't know if it's a slow speed ball, but I liked them.

I am by no means a 'fast swinger'. Driver tops out at 100. I love the 08 TP Black. It is a little firmer feeling than I'm used to but it is longer than any of the other Tour balls I've tried this year and has great spin and control. I prefer the feel of the 08 TP Red but can't make it spin like the Black. I will play the Red if the conditions are wet.

golf magazine did an article on golf balls a few months back I think the swing speed they used was 95 mph but It did show that certain tour golf balls do have distance at sub 100 mph swing speeds. I would look into some of these and i would find a ball that is supposed to be for spin and does give you good distance off the tee.
