I've been gaming a set of MB2s with TT Monaco stiffs since April 1, and I have to say—these are the best irons I've ever hit, bar none. From the feel to the flight to the forgiveness, the MB2s have all the attributes you want in a quality iron and then some.

I also own sets of 714 AP2s and CBs, as well as Nike VR Pro blades, and none of them feel as solid or produce a ball flight as predictable as the MB2s do.

In addition, the sole grinds are absolutely to die for, as they cut through turf and make shallow divots in effortless fashion. You may not think you can hit blades, but if you're a 12 handicap or less, I'll be damned if these aren't the sweetest sticks you've ever swung.

For what it's worth, I also like the CMBs, but nothing—and I mean NOTHING—feels as good as the MB2s. In fact, they're so good that I already own two raw sets and am looking for a third in the PVD finish

I really, truly regret selling mine. Best blades I've tried. I had the wrong shafts in mine as an experiment and in a moment of frustration I sold several sets that I was comparing. If I had it to do over again I'd have just reshafted them. But the idiot in me won that round.

Aaaand today, I was able to snag another set of MB2s (my third!), but these are the first I've had with a PVD finish. The 3-iron hasn't even been hit yet

These are shafted with DG Lite S300s, and this actually prevented me from getting this set for about a month...but then I decided to actually hit the damn things.

Although I typically play X100-style shafts (~90mph 6-iron swing speed), the increased head weight feeling produced by the DG Lites is quite satisfying. I tend to move the ball left or right a touch less with these than I do with my X100s, and the ball flight is only a touch higher (and certainly no less predictable).

In addition, my spin wasn't crazy, either—we're talking 400 or so rpm with a 6-iron, which is more or less nada.

Anyway, Ebay has gotten pretty thin with these lately (unless you're a lefty, in which case you can get a raw set—NEW—for cheap), but your local Golfsmith or PGA Superstore might have a used set laying around that's in good shape.

I've been lucky enough to acquire 2 sets from older guys who didn't beat a lot of range balls and barely hit the long irons; I wouldn't be surprised if you were able to find similar sets wherever you are.

I have a set of rocketbladez tours/kbs tours and MB2s with c-taper s+. I Started off with the rbz tours this year because I was reinstalling the mb2s and regripping, and thought the cavity back would be good to start the year off. I brought the MB2 9 iron with me last night on my round and hit it side by side with the tours. The MB2s effortlessly cut through the turf, and the feel off them is bar none. The feel is just so soft on the clubface compared to the tours (granted the tours are cast). I am also a huge fan of the c taper weight and feel so that also helps.

I have also cleaned with any acidic softdrink, toilet bowl cleaner, or vinegar....anything acidic will remove the rust, or at least make it easily removable from the underlying clean metal surface. OR just leave it rusty.

These things are just as forgiving as player cavities but sport the compact muscleback look and feel. The tours are going back up for sale.

[/quote]This is a spot on assessment of MB 2's. I've played many forged sets and these MB 2's are soft and very forgiving. Yesterday I played a course on the Monterey peninsula for the fist time. I took a looper with me, He was enamored with them.

Thanks for answer on the rust removal, I am on my second set of mb2 and really love them. I didn't give the first set a chance, sold them without playing a round
I just came back from a trip to palm springs and regretfully took a set of Cally x forged and razr musclebacks split set, came home put the mb2 in the bag and couldn't of hit them any better. Will be tough to take them out, always felt wasn't good enough to play blades but these are amazing.

That is funny because i have been playing these for the past year (i stumble on to these) and have to agree that they are best irons out there - no question in my mind. Both of my sets our the 7 weight heads in chrome and PVD. I am currently playing the PVD with Modus 3 120X and they are terrific. I am always on the look out for the MB2 raw 7 weight heads but no luck yet. I will buy them once I find them and then i will be covered and not have to worry about irons anymore.

Just terrific irons.

Interesting as well - i played Shadow creek back in March this year with my MB2 C Taper Lite combo and my caddie was just enamored with these as well. He actually hit a few of them and then proceeded to find a great set of Ebay. He did not want to waste my time on the course buying them but it did not bother me since i converted another player to these hidden gems plus he is my caddie everytime i play out there. I cannot wait to get back out there to see how he likes them. We played around 8 extra holes that day and he was hitting them into the greens from my location.

I am always on the look out for the MB2 raw 7 weight heads but no luck yet. I will buy them once I find them and then i will be covered and not have to worry about irons anymore.

I had a chance to buy the 7 weight raw set last year for 350, and I didn't do it... They weren't in great shape but I regret it!

We all like the "hunt" but I told myself when i come across them that I need to jump on them because i will regret it! Good luck on the hunt and I am sure we will both get a set - just hope we are not chasing the same set. The seller would really like that final price.

So just ordered these bad larrys! After palying Adams pro cb1's since they came out in 2010 I stumbled upon these threads of how awesome these Idea MB2's were. Pretty excited to get these and wish I didn't have to wait for shipping on these! The greatest part of my find was they are the tour satins with the 7 weights.

I'm wondering if there's a big difference between the 5 and 7 plug heads. Does it change the ball flight or feel? What's the benefit of the 7 plugs? I own the 5 plug irons and am thinking of getting the 7 if there's a significant advantage.

The main difference in the two is MOI. Seven weight heads are higher MOI and generate a higher ball flight.

ya hone in that swing and either will bring tears to ur eyes. The seven weight heads I swung were for higher swing speeds. I hit more push shots on mid and long irons. I went with five weight @ 6 i / 95 S S. +1/2" 1* upright. to favor a 8 yrd. draw that was set up from my average position off the tee with a driver.
