clubmaker online is a great guy to deal with...if he carries something it's def quality.
Have you ever tried Hiskei equipment? Interested in opinions on quality, feel, etc.
based on what i found online, it's a korean based company but the components are made in japan.

Agree whole heartedly with what others have said about John Muir at clubmaker-online.com . He is a great objective golf guy, and the US distributor for Hiskei, which I've talked to him about at length. They are based in South Korea, hot bed of golf these days, and their clubs are highly valued by golf enthusiasts there. They're designed by Golftec in Japan, and a lot of the materials are the same high end stuff that many more expensive Japanese lines use (which I use, too...). They apparently do build outside AND inside Japan, like some other Japanese companies, if that matters to you.

I can't speak about the irons, although I've looked at them and they appear high end. But I have been using a couple of their shafts that John has sent me for my woods and hybrids. The Wave shaft in my 3-wood is super light and long, love the feel. And the hybrid shaft is based on their AT50 driver shaft. I use it in my driving 2-iron as well as 3 and 4 Cally XProto utils. Lighter than what usually comes in these things, but super stable, smooth, and long.

So far, I've loved everything I've ever gotten from John, and he speaks highly of Hiskei.

Hope this helps.

Hey R, I know you use that Wave as a baseline when you try new stuff, but do you usually stay in the same weight class between manufacturers? I like the idea of having a baseline to see how a new head may work, but haven't found something affordable yet high quality enough to experiment with. may have to shoot John an email about Hiskei ;)

D -- "...affordable yet high quality enough to experiment with..." is exactly why I start with the Wave in driver heads. It really does play as very high quality even though priced as it is. And sometimes I like it best of all and keep playing it. It's stayed in my S-Yard 3-wd all this time, and gives me monster hits off the tee and turf. And yes, I tend to stay toward the lighter end in shafts, similar to the Wave's weight.

I looked at their products a few years ago when they introduced the Wave shafts for drivers and last year tried to get my irons reshafted with their iron shafts, but the fitter wouldn't install them without me there. I'm not sure if their product line has been updated very much in the last year or two. They are owned by a Korean company and the heads/shafts etc are built in Japan. http://www.gvtour.co...display_group=1

There is also a brochure from 2015 http://gvgolfkorea.w.../2015.hk.en.pdf , which only has a handful of distributors listed. - one of them is here https://www.golfgear...iron-heads-4-pw

and in the UK www.designergolf.co.uk/hiskei

But the heads do look very nice, and from what I can gather they are very high quality and all have 'modern' lofts. I would be interested in trying there clubs, but there are no distributers over here in Germany and I'm back in the UK about once a year.

The clubs are very difficult to find on ebay or Rakuten, but I did find a set of AX-203 heads for < $200, I'll try and dig out the link.

if you want to search around for them, the Korean for Hiskei is 히스케이

Yesterday I emailed gvtour directly and got a reply from the company president! GVtour/Hiskei are currently looking for distributors in Europe and have a new product range available here. http://gvgolfkorea.w...2017.GVTOUR.pdf You can buy there irons or components directly from them which are very reasonable and then build them yourself or have a club fitter do it. The cost for a set of AX-203 heads is $300 shipped to Europe, which is very reasonable.

I'm going to the fitter in the UK who distributes Hiskei so thought I would bump the thread to see if there are any updates on their clubs from driver to wedges.

Update - Got a set of AX 203 irons built. I'm an old guy with a slower smooth swing and the builder put Nippon NS Pro Zelos 7 Regular flex shafts in.

I absolutely love them, great feel, longer and straighter than my old irons.

Update - these have transformed my game, even my playing partners have noticed.

I'm a high handicapper and have had lessons and the swing has improved but these irons have made a massive difference.

I'm 66 playing a course 6725 yds in the competitions and rarely achieve GIR. However I can plan my second shot depending on the quality of the tee shot to leave me a shot of 150 yds and under confident I'll hit the green.
