I wish courses would just drop the idea of cart fees. Have one price, regardless of whether you are walking or riding.

Ya no thanks. As a walker, I don't want my greenfee subsidizing cart users.

If you are disabled, wave the cart fee. If you are able bodied stump up and pay the fee, otherwise use your legs.
I agree with you for my personal situation, since I rarely use a cart, but in order to grow the game, let's just make it as simple as possible to understand the costs.
Maybe semantics is the answer? (Not kidding either)
Green fee = $50
Green fee w/ "walkers discount" = $35

Maybe it would encourage more folks to walk as a positive side benefit. Oh hey look! A discount! Who doesn't love a discount?!

I think this is the best way to tackle the cart cost issue. In our society people are always looking for a deal "what's in it for me" so to speak. Hell, if you have a range include range balls in the price of the green fee, but if you don't want range balls it knocks off $5.

I'd like an explanation of cart fees. I pay $26 just for a cart. 2 people in the cart is $52. When I'm in Florida I play a course with similar layout and conditions with the same freaking carts in the same condition and the round including the cart is $25.

I think it's quite simple. The cart fee is not tied directly to any cost associated with supplying the cart. Basically, they'll charge whatever they think they can get away with. The fact that 2 courses can offer radically different fees on their carts supports this hypothesis.

The average tee time could very well be $26, when you consider the cost of every tee time, regardless of day or time. However, I'd wager that most golf is played on the weekend, in the morning. Assuming all 7 days of the week offer the same number of tee times every day of the week, more of those tee times are probably used on Sat/Sun alone, than on all 5 other days combined. So that $26 is quite jaded.

I'd love to know what the average tee time costs Sat/Sun. morning between 7-11am. I'll bet it's not $26.

the answer is simple...the courses will continue charging high prices for the carts, because people will

continue to pay it.As the baby boomers age,the owners of the courses see a never ending..always increasing number of older

folks who wil have to pay it ..or quit playing golf. Greedy and taking advantage of the retireing population? yep...good

ole supply and demand at its finest.... if people stop paying the fee...the prices will come down...

A buddy and I (a few years back) went and played Torrey Pines South. $60 green fees (okay) but it was something like $35 each for a cart....huh? What???? I guess it's a different company that runs the cart business at this course. Needless to say we walked....and were fricking exhausted at the end.

I played 18 holes with a cart at Brookside #1 (Pasadena, CA) on Sunday and I paid $25. We followed the last group playing in the final round of the Pasadena City Championship so the course/greens were in fantastic shape.

I love golf
