I am in on business to New City NY for next 2 weeks. Anyone wanna play a round?

 

What courses are near New City NY that are priced well and are nice?

If you have a day, take the train out to Bethpage. There's usually looks of openings for walk up singles on the Black, and 4 or 5 other nice courses (I think 5 total but not certain.). The Black is awesome but walking only and difficult - one of my top 3 ever.

Bethpage.. I've been playing the last 3 weeks or so.. $40ish fees, still a few temporary greens, but worth the train ride to experience it all.

Patriot Hills is a very nice course that is close to New City.

New York Country Club is alright and not too far.

Stay away from Rockland Lake Golf Course, it's a dump.

Blue Hill, Rotella, and Spook Rock are all pretty nice but nothing special imo.

If you decide to travel outside of Rockland County there are some nice courses in Northern NJ and Westchester. Ballyowen, Neshanic Valley, and Pound Ridge are some of the nicest. Mansion Ridge is pretty nice too, but it gets mixed reviews.

Try pound ridge. twilight rate isnt too bad. Just played there monday the 11th and besides the greens having some small holes in them, it was a great experience. Beautiful course and very very difficult. Stay away from black. Last time I called they had 6 temp greens.

Another option from NYC is to take Metro North (from Grand Central) and go up to Stamford. Once at Stamford take a tax/Uber to Sterling Farms (sterlingfarmsgc.com). All in all it will be a 60 min trip if you catch the express from GC. Green fees for 18 holes will be in the $30s.

Just a heads up Bethpage has temp greens on all courses until after Memorial Day.

Agreed with every thing HiSpeed48 mentioned, spoken like someone from Rockland County. All the courses he mentioned are all within a 30 minute drive from New City, NY. The only other one I can think of that he didn't mention is West Point which is just up the Palisades. Nice course with monster greens. The only drawback is there normally great practice range is closed for the season as the rebuild there clubhouse.

Its really too bad on Rockland lake as the layout is really nice. Could be a great course if they got some competent management there to fix it up...
