Adams Idea Black CB2

These irons are sweet!

I switched from Ben Hogan Apex Plus irons (Mizuno Mp-57 before that) and these are just as smooth and workable as any of those options. They are very soft feeling forged irons, but not as soft as my Hogans but they are way more forgiving and beautiful to look at in person (pictures don't do them justice). My brother has the A4 forged which are nice, but this is easily the best set of irons Adams has ever built.

I bought these on a complete whim, my boss sugested them to me. First off the black finish looks awesome i think these are one of the best looking clubs that are on the market. Before these clubs i have never hit forged so i was a little timid because everyone i met treated forged clubs like the anti christ.

Ive had them for just short of a year and i have to say these are the best clubs ever. The forgiveness is enough but not to much, like you can hit an offcenter hit but you wont be punished horribly for it. Hitting it on the screws feels like butter, and has the complete capabilities to work the ball right and left easier then any club ive tried. I worked in a golf shop for a year and i tried every club i could and i still stand by the fact that these are the best overall clubs that money can buy. In my opinion i would say the AP2 are the closest to this.

Best sole grid of any cavityback club i have ever hit IMO ,,I am a digger and these by far for a stock club do great, really goes thought the turf with no effort and didn't seem to bounce up my divots have never looked better ... great job Adams..... if the a12s have a sole like this with a more standard weight shaft. I will be buying another set of Adams irons. Try them out, the shaft is not for everyone but the head is one of the best in its category..

CM012409,

I was looking for the amount of offset on my CB2's and saw your post. The CB2's are not dated at all. I still play my 4-PW set with the KBS Tour 90 shafts. Despite what the OEM's might tell you, not much has changed in the more traditional blade-style clubheads. Albeit, they are more of a Game Improvement head that happens to look like a blade; rather than traditional, unforgiving, forged blades such as my Snakes Eyes 600's. I think the CB2's are one of the best combinations of "Feel & Forgiveness" ever made. The only drawback I've had is the black finish wearing off. When they started looking mottled from the finish wearing away, I just polished them with some 0000 steel wool- now they have more of a shiny pewter color to them, which I think , looks pretty cool. Fantastic irons, I have no plans on using anything else for a long time.

I went through 2 sets of these (still have my last set).  I've hit just about every forged club out there and these are still the best combination of feel and forgiveness that I have ever hit.
I was always a Mizuno or Titleist guy until I hit the Adams CB1's when they came out.  I loved them but once I hit the CB2's I knew I had to buy them.  I liked them so much I bought a 2nd set to keep until my 1st set wore out.  Over the years I also purchased a set of the Pro a12's, which were also very nice.  I ended up giving those to a buddy and he still plays them today.  When the CB3's came out I bought a set of those as well to keep as a back up.  The CB3's have a slightly wider sole than the CB2's (which I don't like) but they also have less offset (which I do like).  The CB2's have a progressive offset (most offset on the 4 iron versus very little offset on the PW/GW.
Once my 2nd set of CB2's wore out I went to the CB3's and I'm still playing them today.  The face / grooves on the CB3's don't seem to wear as fast and the previous Adam's forged clubs so I may be playing with these for awhile.
I still go out every year when new products come out and hit the new forged offerings by pretty much every MFG out there.   To this day, I have yet to hit an iron that I like better than the CB2's, or the CB3's that I am currently playing.  Adams made some fantastic forged clubs back in this era that still hold up to todays "new" irons.  If you can find a set in good condition, GRAB THEM FAST.  You will not be disappointed.
