"I lost a lot of respect for the USGA"....
What a dbag...too bad the U.S. Open is not an invitational. #spoiledlittleahole
[/quote]

I don't see why he's a jerk for stating his opinion??? Maybe he should have stated the obvious in a more appropriate/tactful setting... The USGA, as the game's governing body/organization, has made some questionable moves that do impact the game (beyond the scope of just this particular tournament).

He can say whatever he Wants...fine....just be prepared to don the dress when you look like a little btch

I don't have a huge problem with the interview, but he looked like a clown out on the course dancing around with all the theatrics. He was running hot for 18 holes. Hard to compete when the course is in your head that much. He played a heck of a round today. Makes you wonder what he would have done with the proper mindset.

The existence of this thread is proof Fox got what they wanted. Leave BillyHo alone, he's usually one the good guys and was pi$$ed walking off a disappointing weekend.

All of you clowns criticizing should think of an analogy for your own lives:
Let's say you work on a computer daily. You're used to having something reasonably current - more than quick enough to keep up with whatever menial tasks you perform. Now let's say a week before quarter-end you have a "major" (see what I did there:) ) project due. Now instead of your normal PC I swap it out for an old Pentium 1. Sure, you can still do your job. Sure, the star employees are going to get their work done. But wouldn't you be just a little annoyed that one of the 4 weeks out of the year that you know is going to be critical to your success is now going to be that much harder because of something beyond your control?

::Steps off soap box::

Good point but think of all the totally "unfair", crazy, lying, bs, last minute total blow ups that are constantly happening to us all day long.

Go to the partners, the boss, the client, your family and say,

"boohooo, things are too hard, its not fair, its not my fault."

If you dont get it done, you failed. Move on.

The guy has always been opinionated so I'm not surprised with the comments. If I remember right he went on some Twitter rant about the presidential election results a few years ago. So the opinionated personality is not shocking

He made a perfectly valid statement when he met with the media. The U.S. Open is supposed to identify the best golfers of the week. He said the USGA took out one of the skills of the game, putting, with their disastrous greens and I completely agree. Putting is like throwing a dart with a fan on the side of the dart board. There's no skill to these greens. They're a putt and pray and that does not help identify the best golfer of the week. It turned the greens into a run of the green, literally. I agree, the USGA should be ashamed of themselves. With such a beautiful course you make the greens completely stupid. Way to go USGA buffoons.

Taking the PC stance isn't always a cop out and speaking your mind isn't always the right decision - Billy seems to get these confused all the time - There's an awful lot to be said for the guy who can navigate this reality and say what needs to be said w/o coming off as an idiot...

Situation 1: Player gives cordial and vanilla corporate responses in interview ("Would've been nice to make a few more putts, just happy to be here").
Wrx response: These guys are robots and have no personality.

Situation 2: Player speaks their mind in the heat of the moment and essentially summarizes the vast majority of their peers' opinions.
Wrx response: He's a tool/fool/whiny b***h/etc.

Can't win here.

What did he say that made him come off a idiot? I thought his antics on the course was over the top acting but he said nothing that most everyone else is thinking but don't have the guts to say it.

Those saying all should be grateful need to remember. These players make the governing bodies , promoters , sponsors and course owners a lot of money. All that they usually ask is a nice set of greens to putt on and a fair playing field. 1/4 of that was given this week. And on a course that was built for this purpose with 8 years to prepare. Every player has a right to be disappointed. And within that right is the right to voice it publicly or privately. That part also falls back to the usga. If private griping got results guys would use it. Problem is it doesn't. Only public outcry will change their ways. We have seen greens 1000 times better than this in many regular tour events this year. With much less money backing them. No excuse for playing on dirt/poa greens.

Didn't he say something like, "They make good putters look average and bad putters look average"?

To me that implies perhaps some of the guys on the leader board shouldn't be there and that minimalizes their accomplishment and kind of makes you a jerk.

Maybe idiot is too harsh, but the general sentiment that there is a right way and a wrong way to voice your complaints was well said.

I agree . I hate how every-1 has to be politically correct . He doesn't like the course and I don't blame him . Why should he lie and say it's a great venue if he Dosnet believe it . I usually love the open and this course is a joke . Worst U.S. open I remember

The combination of his on course antics and what he said...have to remember the way you say something often has just as much of an impact as how you say it

And sometimes you have to be blunt to get the point across and draw attention to the issue.

Neither actually. The fool is the one who can't control their emotions and make coherent and logical argument. "I lost a little respect for the USGA this week" added no value to his argument and made him sound like a fool..

He could have said "With the amount of time and resources the USGA had to get this course right. The condition of the greens was a complete disappointment/disaster/abomination/etc"....
