2015 Travelers Championship: Discussion Thread

GolfWRX is live this week from the 2015 Travelers Championship at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Conn. The course will measure around 6,841 yards and play as a par-70.

 

Although it comes the week after the U.S. Open, the Travelers boasts a strong field, including Bubba Watson, ranked No. 5 in the current Official World Golf Rankings, Sergio Garcia (No. 9), Patrick Reed (No. 15), Billy Horschel (No. 19) and Brandt Snedeker (No. 25).

 

Last year, Kevin Streelman birdied his last seven holes, firing a 28 on the back-nine to win by one shot over Garcia and K.J. Choi.

I'm volunteering there this year, (pro pic related) at the practice facilities, and it's a lot of fun to hear the guys talking ish about Chambers. For example, when Patrick Reed got to the range, he bends over and puts his palms on the ground and says, "ahhh so this is what grass feels like!" Overheard Zach Johnson chatting with Bo Van Pelt about why it was the worst course they've ever played on.

one other thing that was pretty funny was Vijay Singh practicing, he has an entourage that follows him around of about 5-7 people who each do one job that one person would be able to do all at once. For example, one of the guys job sitting on his knees about a foot away from where Vijay is hitting, and simply take a ball from the pile and put it in front of Vijay to hit. It almost looks like he's picking strawberries.

There was a BBQ tent for the players and volunteers and it was hilarious to watch S.J. Park and Seung Yul Noh tentatively and somewhat confusedly eat, what appears to have been, their first taste of Kansas City BBQ

Yeah it is. My buddy used to work there and wed always try to clear the water from the 17th tee to the 16th green while waiting. Very nice layout. Nice elevation changes. Wish I could make it this year.

This course is officially on my bucket list and I don't have too many on that list. I love the green, I miss the east coast feel, and I miss the summers.

Arizona can f itself, id move back to New England in a heartbeat.
