Looking for honest help please?

Okay, I really need to be told the reality of this sport. I just started about 3-4 months ago. I am 21 and currently going to school online for my associates. What I would like to know is what are the chances of me going to a second school for my bachelors and getting a scholorship or even playing for a college? As of right now, on this short executive course I am shotting high 70s low 80s. I am determined to do whatever it takes really at this point because I moved down to Florida for a change in my life, so all I do is eat, sleep, and breathe golf. This game is really addicting by the way lol. I am currently starting a 6 month plan with Golf Tec to redo my swing as I think that it would really help because I am still fairly new and want to start the right way without bad habbits. Should I compete right now in tournaments just for the experience? Should I just quit golf? If not, what type of numbers in progress should I be seeing to prepare myself for I would say 2 years?

I apprecaite it and please I'm not just looking for encouragement, I am looking for reality and insight on maybe someone with experience. Thanks alot.

1) Stop playing shorter executive courses

2) Play in as many tournaments as you can afford, NO college in the world will talk to you if you aren't playing in tournaments

3) Don't worry about rebuilding your swing unless you have a MAJOR flaw. Find a coach that has played successfully and have them teach you course management and how to PLAY golf.

I agree with Kman on everything. One thing though, playing in college really depends on what college you're planning on going to. I know plenty of guys from high school that couldn't hold my jock on the course that went on to play - maybe not Div I - but they still competed. Good luck - you're young and you can definitely do anything in this game that you want (hard work).

i'd say that if you've only been playing for 3-4 months, it's going to be absolutely remarkable progress to be able to play college golf in the next few years. for this reason, i'd say your chances aren't too good. on the other hand, stranger things have happened. faldo for instance went from having never played to winning the english amateur in like 4 years or so, and he's obviously one of the all time greats.

so, i'd say if this is what you really, really want to do, go for it. but, if you don't get there, don't be too disappointed.

no reason to quit, the game is meant to be fun even if you not competing because you are always competing against yourself, its sounds to me like if you can't be good you don't want to play. golf will eat you alive if you have that attitude. Just play golf or go watch a local tournament and see what you need to do.
