Aaron Baddeley's in hand Iron Pics!

Recommended Posts

Small forged blades custom built for Aaron by Don White of MacGregor golf. Small heads with a big leading edge grind. Helps with Badds decending blow to the ball.

Also has a new 55* in the bag last week. Here are Pics only seen here...

3 iron...

GAH!!!! It's just a picture and yet I still got nervous looking at it. I can just feel the bones breaking in my hands from mishitting this! :)
Those VFoil's look SWEEEEEET. I've thought about picking a set of them up, but I've just never gotten around to it. Has anyone played/hit them and could give me some info?

The Vfoils Badds had in the bag before his new set have nothing to do with the ones you can buy of the shelves.

Go for the new ones MT Pro M if you want a real set of forged blades.

You can always go for a custom grind set from Don White #1 in grinding (2k set).

Cheers
If I'm right, Badds used a couple different custom sets of Vfoils. The 1 set was based on the 1025M series with custom grinding. The 2nd set was based on the 675M series (or at least looked like the 675M), but somewhat different as the 3,4,5 irons in the retail set wasn't 100% forged (the back part was sealed to the forged set to allow for tungsten weighting).

I've owned both retail sets and kept the 1025M series as they were exceptional irons IMHO. You can get them fairly cheap if you can find/buy them used...maybe around $200-$300 in excellent condition.

Ocgolfer is correct though. Badds set is very different than what you can get retail. The grinding is very much to match his preferences and swing. With that said, I think the 1025M series was excellent retail set and the new MT Pro-M line is very exciting new addition.

Great pics. I know they'd just waffle on about not having a market to sell too but MacGregor would probably sell a lot more clubs if they put a retail version of these into production, far nicer than those 'forgiving blades (M675s?)', i'd take a set of those over 695MBs or RAC TP blades anyday. If they could forge them as soft they'd be a real contendor with Mizuno. I think Olazabal has some really nice looking ones too.

what like these

Having said that Aaron's blades look a million miles away from the set i have. Things of real beauty

Whats in Badd's bag now that he's with adams? Driver, Woods, Hybrids, and wedges. Thanks alot.

Although he's got an Adams bag and cap, he's currently only using 2 Adams clubs. He has had spells with their drivers and apparantly they're working on some irons for him but for now, this is his bag:

Driver: Taylor Made R7 425 TP

3 Wood: Adams BTY 14.5*

5 Wood: Adams BTY 18.5*

Irons: Don White custom grind 3-PW (based on MacGregor Pro-M's)

Wedges: Callaway X-Forged 54* & 60*

Putter: Scotty Cameron Newport Oilcan

I looked at the WGC Bridgestone 2008 pix, and it looks like Baddeley is using some new, totally unmarked blades of some kind that don't look like either of the MacGregor pix in this thread. They do resemble a club I've seen before, but can't remember where I saw them. They might resemble the blades the Cobra guys were playing before they cleaned up the backs of them and added those shallow 'panels' and markings. Before that, they were very plain with what I think was that triangular muscleback. Anyone have any more definitive info? Thanks.

Edit: By the way, I don't know what the proper forum for this might be, but I was wondering what info anyone might have about the new rules regarding grooves on 'scoring' clubs. I still can't believe that the HUGE and SHARP grooves on the Cleveland CG12 wedges are even conforming now (I know they are, but it's hard to believe). They are so much wider and sharper than the grooves on any other wedges like Vokeys and TM's that I've seen.

his right leg is straighr bc of stack and tilt swing. His weight never shifts back to his right

Baddeley's new blades aren't pictured in this thread but they're still Don White grinds mate.

They're based on the MacGregor Pro-M iron but they just have the initials DW on the sole and AB on the bottom right. I understand that Adams are keen to get him using their irons but he's been using Macgregor's since he signed with them.

At a time where technology rules in golf -- COR, MOI, NANO, Grain flow, etc. It's neat to see irons like his being played w/ some sole grinding as the biggest modification. These look like the Powerbilt forged irons that my dad used to have...teeny heads, zero offset, thin topline.
