We've got a group of guys from another place I frequent that do an Iowa weekend each year...between August and October. Usually 16-20 of us. This year in August we're playing 36 at TCI on Saturday and then 18 at HoneyCreek on Sunday. Should be a good time.

I live in the Des Moines area. I'm also a member at Wakonda so I play 90% of my rounds at the club. However, I do enjoy traveling and playing other courses, so let's keep this updated going into 2016 with where/when everyone's playing.

I live in Phoneix now but lived about 10 yrs in West Des Moines. All this talk makes me homesick for the Midwest. I miss the courses back there! I worked at Des Moines Golf and Country Club as a valet while in school. I've played there a bunch. Nice course. As a junior, I had a city pass and played Waveland everyday during the summer. I love that course.

Welcome. I grew up, and went to school in Ankeny, live a bit south of Des Moines now.

 

We never did get this organized last year, would like to give it another try.

I enjoy playing waveland, tough track most of the time for a city course, really hilly, and you use most clubs in your bag. To many courses around here are driver - wedge courses and doesn't test your game.

Looks really hilly from 235. That's how copper Creek was. Would like to go back sometime cause I didn't play well there. I plan on golfing a lot of courses this summer.

Otter is pretty good for a public.I have not been to a ton of Clubs, but Hyperion is damn nice.

Jester Park for Public for sure! Huge Putting Green, Separate Chipping Green, plus the range takes credit cards through a machine so you can go there at anytime. Love going there at 6:45 before work and getting a bucket in.

It is really hilly but challenges your game. Played 9 over a long lunch break today and we played the front 9 in a hour and 15 min. gotta love when its kinda overcast and no one is there.

Would anybody be interested in a Ryder Cup-style GolfWRX outing?

 

We could shoot for maybe 16 guys, split them into 2 teams (North vs. South, East vs. West), play 18 hole matches ... First 6 holes best ball, next 6 holes fourball, last 6 holes 1-on-1 matchplay? We can do handicaps, or if everybody matches up well, we could just do straight up. Losing team buys dinner?

 

If we can get 16 guys signed up, I'll be more than happy to set up tee times at a central course and coordinate a date. I can provide at least 3 guys counting myself, so that just leaves 13 spots to fill, that should be doable. Reply here if anybody is interested.

Yep, and am almost sure the 2 guys I play with would be in. One is a member here, not sure if the other has joined yet.

Call FDCC, and see if they will let you on. They have some of the best greens in the state.

Played Waveland yesterday, was playing like crap, cant really control my driver, we were through 12 and the play was super slow (about 7pm) so we decided to just go play the front again, played the same the first 5 holes, then just decided to keep the driver in the bag and hit 3 wood the rest of the way. Birdied 6, Birdied 7, par 8, birdied 9. I think ill keep driver in the bag for a while. :)

Playing Amana next Friday...Coldwater and Honey Creek Saturday and Harvester on Sunday. Should be a fun weekend of golf.
