Which one flies higher off the driver?

Black, but only by a few feet according to Golf Magazine.

 

From my personal experience I would say they are virtually the same as far as actual height goes, however the Black seem to get up quicker for me.

the black launches higher at least according to when i hit it. thats also one the key points to the black

for me (105ish driver ss, mid-high spin player) the black flew quite a bit higher and with more spin than the v1

What specifically beings you back to the v1x?

I assume thats for me? What I love about the v1x is how it behaves inside 100 yards. I tried (hard) to play the prov1 but it just always felt mushy to me of the putter and on greenside shots. The v1x feels just about right to me, although if it was just a matter of feel, the 08 tp black would be my perfect ball. That is exactly the feeling I like to have off the putter and irons. The problem is that the tp black just flies WAY to high for me off the driver. I know that some people would be suggest just using the tp black and replacing the driver, but thats not an option for me right now.

Using the V1x is a very happy compromise, however. I love the feel off the putter. On chips/wedges/short irons this ball spins as much as any other ball for me. I know some people will say that is blasphemy, but that is my experience. And lastly, off the tee I can keep it down a little better than the other balls.

 

For the record I have 105-110 driver ss, fairly high spin player.

Of the balls I tested this is how they ranked for me in terms of driver distance (not scientific):

1. 08 tp red

2. bstone 330-s/ 330

3. v1x

4. nike black/ tour ix

5. prov1

6. tp black/ nike platinum

I've been playing the TP Red LDP for the past two months, and while its a great ball long, low controlled approach spin, and good in the wind I'm still not sold. It still lacks that sticky bite around the greens that I get from the ProV1.

 

SOO........Now I'm going to put the TP Black LDP up against the ProV1 to see how they compare to try to earn "THE spot" in the the bag.

 

How do you guys think TP Black vs ProV1 compare all around, not just on flying higher but

approach spin?

greenside spin?

distance?

putting?

durability?

I am trying the red after leaving the TP black because it flies TOO high off my driver and irons. IMO with irons across the board I think it has less spin than the prov1- not a bad thing imo - but it flies just as high or higher - so it reacts much the same on the green. I just worry in the wind with the black so I going to try reds in a few hours and see how goes.
