After a season of taking a break from smaller forgings these were put in my hands for a mere range session and test round.

I had to give these a 5 rating. I think they could be used by players with less than stellar iron play... perhaps even a 15+ handicap. That may sound crazy but I think this iron is the example of taking my fondness for yesterday's blades/forgings and combining it with modern day game improvement.

The sweet spot is well off the hosel, perhaps better than most. It sets up very clean, is a handsome club in the bag.

The sound is perfect, the feel is what you'd expect from a smallish forging. They just aren't nearly as hard to hit as you think.

These weren't even in my radar and I am heavily considering them. I played them with Project X 5.5 shafts which seem to be a good fit. You can get very specific with these. They aren't point and shoot but have just enough help to keep you confident on those iffy lies. This is a MUCH better iron than a lot of people are giving it credit for.

I also considered, and recommend the Razr X tour. A similar iron, but with that next level of forgiveness, without a hint of 'game improvement' in the appearance.

I just bought a set with Project X 6 shafts. I saw them when they first came out and fell in love with the look. Generally I hate Callaway clubs. After a bit of saving up and a hefty discount at the local pro shop I took the plunge. Will be trying them out for the first time tomorrow! My old Ping i3's have finally been relegated to the store cupboard.

Will let you know what I think.

Looking at the Razrx Forged vs Razrx tours. Currently playing Cobra I/H 3000 for past 5 years. Prior to that in year 2000 , played HoanApex blades. Thought I was a good enough player to play blades but obviously not. Thus the switch to cavity back cast Cobras. A little gun shy about buying another set of blades but sounds like the technology is much better on these blades??? I am currently an 8 index

Great set of irons. I gave them 4 out of 5 only because I think the short irons (8-PW) are little chunky looking and not as slim as I'd like. Still short from heel to toe, but just rather beefy. They are solid performers though, no doubt about that.

Here is my detailed and ongoing review thread:

Went to the local golf shop to demo these clubs. Hit them off the mats there and the feedback and feel was incredible. Sweet spot shots sounded crisp and felt soft in the hands. Off center hits I wouldn't say reverberated but slightly vibrated. The monitor showed that the dispersion was not too off though. Weary about getting these during the middle of winter when I can't play them at all on the course. Most places give you 7 days to try and return for credit if need be.

Superb feel on the range and around the local Par 3 course. Taking them out in anger for the first time tomorrow in the Sharjah Cup. Combined with my (relatively) new R11, looking for a good position to take into the second round on Saturday.

No gaudy plastic carbuncle, which is a bonus, but the 'gills' don't really strike me as being necessary.

I found it very hard to finally part ways with my Callaway Forged 09 irons, but once I started to seriously play these clubs, I noticed very little difference in both feel and responsiveness. The feel is almost identical, stemming from Callaway's amazing forging process. In order to produce similiar action/spin they had to increase the number of grooves from the 2009 version, with great results.

I personally feel these are the BEST irons on the market.

Great irons. I've gamed a set 4-9 with DG X-100s Sensicore for about a year now. Great flight throughout the set. Not a huge fan of the topline. I think it's a little too thick but that's just my opinion. Overall these are really good irons and extremely fogiving. It's almost impossible for me to not hit these clubs straight and I can pull out a fade and draw whenever I want. Obviously they're not as workable as the musclebacks which is what I'm wanting to switch to. The feel on sweet spot hits is unbelieveable though.
Just picked a set of these up. Seem to be a bit thicker than most in this category but I don't mind that at all. Actually like the extra help. Feel is great and has some good forgiveness too. Not sure about the px shaft just yet so might be restarting them in time.
I agree. Really like the high square toe as well.
