Half sizes in shoes

Why is it that manufacturers stop making half sizes past a 12.5? I can't believe that the evolution of people doesn't justify this any longer. I find that after I wear a 14 for a while they start to feel big but when I try on a 13 out of the box they are too small for me to take the risk in buying in hopes of them stretching. So far I have found that some of the foot joys spikes run a bit big for a 13 and work out pretty good but that is it. Everything else I'm always second guessing and never feel that I have that perfect fit. Anyone else have this dilemma? Have any recommendations?

Your best option is probably to just amputate your toes about a half size.

In all seriousness though, I also don't understand why manufacturers do not make half sizes past a 12.5 - it seems like everyone in the world is over 6 feet with huge feet and hands now-a-days..

Sorry dont have that issue but to me it is no smart to stop making those sizes.

It's the tradeoff for being able to see things on top of the fridge.

I imagine there just isn't any money in it. The general populace is so bunched together there are many choices. When you get toward the 1% of the populace, they aren't making nearly as much money.

Same deal with waist sizes. Why hardly any odd number sizes beyond 34? 35, 37, 39, etc? And I'm a perfect 13 1/2 in shoes too!

Not many people have feet that big thats probably why there aren't 13.5 or 14.5 shoes. I know that tw 14 and 15s stretch out a little bit so maybe you will have some luck w those. Love the profile pic go hawks!

They stopped making half sizes passed 12 a looonnnnngggggg time ago man. They don't even sell 12.5's in most stores, although they do on nike.com for instance. I read somewhere that people with feet larger than 12's only make up about 5% of the population so it's a cost cutting measure. My foot measure a 13.5 A, so depending on the fit of the shoe I either go 13 or 14. I can never just blindly order shoes online due to my foot.

I would say try out different brands to see which fits the best. Having dealt with this since I was 12, I feel your pain. It can be a brand to brand, even style to style thing as far as the fit goes. And it depends on what you're looking for in a shoe. I've had shoes in the same closet ranging from 13 to 15. Guys like us are stuck with trial and error.

It's obviously a conspiracy in conjunction with the folks who only make pants inseams in 2" increments.

But at least I can have pants tailored. Not sure what you folks are supposed to do about shoes that don't fit.

Diminishing returns? Demand is low... but also the size goes up absolute increments and not relative, i.e. not percentage of the size. A size 5.5 to 6 is a much bigger relative jump than 14 to 14.5... maybe theres less practical difference to warrant the half steps.
