Wear comfortable shoes that are not brand new.
Wear good socks.
Buy the yardage book in the pro shop.
Practice longer bunker shots before the round near the range.
Hit an iron or hybrid on the first tee.
When in doubt around the green, use your putter
Set your expectation that the the greens will give you some bad bumps.
Have fun regardless of what you shoot. Chambers is one of the best courses I've played and the land it's on is incredible.

Lol "out of stater", shouldn't be considered a public course. Just read an article think it was in Pacific Northwest Golfer rating the top 10 public courses in Washington. Talked about how these are courses that you won't find velvet ropes or stuffed shirts. I don't know how many of your middle class in state golfers can afford to go play at $250 a round. That's not public that's elite. I can play four rounds, a months worth of golf for that. Would I go play it once for $125, yes but at $250 only if someone else is buying.

Do you recommend getting a caddie?

1. Bring plenty of water and granola bars. The walk is very elevated so stay hydrated and eat something every 9 holes or so.

2. I would recommend getting a caddie. I shot a 77 there and I am sure it would have been 3/4 shots better with a caddie giving me some local knowledge.

3. Warm up before your round. The ground is unique. It will help to get comfortable with the feel of the turf with iron and wedge shots.

4. Spend a good 20 minutes on the practice green before teeing off. You will have to hit most of your putts harder than you think. Especially the uphill putts.

5. Bring a decent camera. The whole time i was walking i kept thinking "man i wish i had a real camera". Iphone pics don't do the elevation justice.

6. You can get away with spikeless shoes or even tennis shoes. Just wear something light and comfortable.

7. If you want to get REALLY technical....you could probably play a low spin/cheap ball. Greens are slow and you want the ball to run out.

I guess the question is...is a 3 or 4 shot better round worth at least $100 extra? :) This round is already pretty pricey...
Any other thoughts? Thanks everyone

Having a caddie will probably let you enjoy the course a little more and let you take more pictures. The elevation change is very severe and depending on the weather (it was 90 when I played) it might be a fairly difficult walk. If you can justify the expense a caddie is worth it. I played in late July and the USGA really put a beating on the greens, hopefully the month plus gave them time to heal.

All excellent points. First time on fescue and it is different. Hit some shots to get used to it.

Its just crazy honestly what they charge now. IMHO It is NO where near that price course. I think we paid 150/175 total and after the round I remember thinking...."Hmmm is this course really worth the price...." Played with family and they thought the same. Well my sister really liked it. Its a good/great course but it is not ELITE as they like to think it is.

Edit: We played it before the US open was announced, I think second year or so of being open and that was the price for out of state then. I guess adding a US Open allows to them to tack on a few Benjamin's to the price now LOL

Well, how did it go original poster person?

Sorry I missed this thread I would've been more than happy to join you for a round and give you all the bad local knowledge.

Hopefully you got to play The Home Course just down the street---almost as good for 1/5 the price.

They told me the price was going back to 165 ish the next week. They were still riding the U.S. Open prices.
