high school golf season

Here in MN we have our golf season in the spring and I hate it. The weather is ALWAYS terrible and your coming off a 5 month winter. I just wanted to find out when other states have their HS golf seasons.

When i played for my highschool back in MI it was in the fall..... great weather this year but states last year was snowing/sleating and like 33* just can't play golf in that but obviously we had to.......

California is in the spring, it's not cold, but in Northern Ca it is really really sloppy.

in the spring here in CT. the fall would be good, but i love having HS golf to look foward to after the winter. sure im a little rusty, and the courses arent in as good a shape, but the antisipation is what matters to me. i love it. better than just goin out and playin the day the course opens, you get to COMPETE the day it opens, thats what i like.

3 times a week from the 1st of September to the 4th of October here in Albany, NY. Longer if you make it past sectionals. It's a good time. I'm warmed up, I know my game for the year, and it gives me something to look foward to as the school year starts creeping up on me. Playin golf after school...What can be better? Perfect temps too, not too cold, not too hot.

I'm from washington, and our season is in the spring, march-may. In the beginning the weather is terrible, we usually play "winter rules" (lift-clean-place) for the first couple months, and then as the weather turns and the courses dry up we play "summer rules" (play it as it lies).

Right now in Michigan it is in the Fall for the boys, and in the Spring for the girls, but the state athletic association was sued under Title IX, so they are in the process of moving both golf seasons to the spring.

Here in PA it is a fall sport and I love it. I get to play baseball, while getting to play golf over the summer to get ready. The only problem with the fall id that the courses are munies and are in rough shape. It also gets cold and WINDY when districts roll around.

I have been hearing all about this..... i hope this doesn't happen!!!!!! even though i don't like fall i would hate spring even more.... gets in the way of alot of national tournaments for alot of players!!!!

 

I heard that the court date was postponed and they haven't set a date for it to be heard again.... so hopefully that means it won't be happening this year!!!!

my golf season is about to start in a month, im not upset, beause i know the wheather in the begging wont be that great, but ive been playing all year long, only had a 2 week break becuase of snow. I even played in 20* weather, which i think will definatly help me because a lot of people just stopped playing for awhile becasue it was so cold.

Here in PA its in the fall which i think is great. We start in the middle of August and states are usually on Halloween wekend or somewhere thereabout. Its Really the best season to play golf in for school. we go matches to League championship tournament to Districts them to States. Team competition doesnt go any further than Districts tho.

golf season is now... spring. love it, but coming off the off season, but i'm getting off that. im in California and love it. we could really have it any season cause its always nice outside! :D northern californa-- BAY AREA!!!

Season starts this month, I'd guess you could call it spring, but in Northern california we only had like a month of wet weather. What schools do everybody play for in the bay area here?

I live in Washington and our season starts next week. WooHoo!!!! It depends where you go to school when you play. I know on the West side of the state (i.e. Seattle) they have what is called the Metro League and they play in the fall. A kid was in S.I. in the fall after shooting 60 in a league match. Pretty much the rest of the state plays in the spring (Feb 28 until May 23 or so). On the other side of the mountains in the eastern half, most of the spring season sucks. We get winds that blow 20MPH pretty regularly during matches and practices. I played in a league match where it was blowing so hard I had to aim my tee shot at a house on the side of the street opposite of the course just so that the ball would avoid the right rough; it still didn't. Most of our golf comes after the season in the summer when we get 90* heat and the courses firm up nicely. Driving distance usually jumps about 25 yds for me during the summer and fall and goes back down in the spring.

Fall, I like it because you have all summer to practice and to do AJGA events. The rust is already gone and the weather is nice.

spring here in iowa, 1st year on the golf team but my bro has played the last couple of years and ive always laughed at him for having to play in 40 degree, raining, 20 mph wind weather. I guess Im gonna have to eat my own words.
