I think the CB will be the winner this year with improved forgiveness along with the looks, kind of a "best of" version of the AP2.
How much more forgiving ? Plenty of mid-handicappers play the AP2's...What is the lowest handicap range that the CB is targeting ?
It was stated in the CB review that the added tungsten was able to match the MOI numbers from the 714 AP2s. Improved looks (thinner top line, compact size heel-to-toe, etc) plus 714 AP2 forgiveness sounds like a winner to me.

Good looking irons. I love how the DG AMT is standard on the T-MB, AP2 and CB. Titleist's site only has the T-MB in 2i-5i. Is the 6i-PW going to be offered as MOTO or will it come later?
Correct. Per the front page article at least.

$199 per club? What's that, £120? Not too bad, as they're going to be £160 over here. Mind you, by the time I've added shipping and possible custom charges on the top, it all works out the same I guess.

Excellent comparison pictures, thanks for putting all that effort into those.

I'm guessing this was supposed to be the MB on the right though?

Anyway, they all look great to me. Nice fresh take on the MB and CB, with a nifty pre-worn leading edge grind. And to someone else's point earlier, looks like they've thinned out that topline on the CBs. I feel like even the MBs look thinner, if that was even possible. The T-MB look nice too, and if they offer more forgiveness than the 712U, could be a hit as far as players' utility irons go or even the full set.

With the DG AMT as a shaft option, this is a solid line.

Yes. I'll get that fixed immediately. Thanks for the heads up. Yesterday was a lot of photo editing!

I've had my 714 Ap2 for a little under a year. I absolutely love them. Saying that, I've just contacted Titleist about a fitting for the CB. Man those look sweet. Less offset, a thinner top-line and similar MOI to my AP2. What's not to love? I'm an 11 handicap in the UK - never quite sure how that equates to a USGA handicap - but feel I'll be able to hit them just fine.

Are the Titleist National Fitting Centres in the UK doing fittings already?

My goodness, please tell me that is a pre-worn sole grind on the MBs (like on the 690.MBs)!!!! Best off the rack blade ever made because of that grind! If my eyes are not deceiving me, these will most certainly be at the top of a very short list of irons to try for the upcoming season.

Indeed it is.

That I don't know I'm afraid. My fitting isn't until October the 20th. The new irons are released in the UK on the 23rd so by that stage they definitely will. To get an appointment at the fitting centre outside Edinburgh you have to book weeks in advance.

Those dates would kind of fit in with my Pro telling me today that he rang Titleist to find out when his Demo kit would be in, and he said Oct 8th, so that fits in kind of right. Come on, give us a clue, what do you think you will end up with? And no, I don't mean what do you like the most!! :derisive:

Any comparison photos of the AP2 716s and the 714s?

Though much is taken much abides;
We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are;
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.
- Lord Tennyson

I orginally booked a one hour fitting for 915 3 wood. I then made it a two hour fitting to go through the bag. Having seen more photos I'm worried I'm going to order CB 4-pw and possibly a new hybrid too. I'm not going to replace the 714 AP2 with the 716 so if it's new irons it will have to be the CB.

A 43 degree pitching wedge? So I need five wedges now? I'm done with Titleist.
No, you just need 14 clubs to hit them the distances you want. No more complicated than that. Or, if what it says on the bottom of a club bothers you, you could go buy a sharpie and put what you want on the bottom if that suits your mindset better?

After deep thought and many discussions with the WRX staff and 6 phone calls to some sick-o Ho's from WRX... I have finally developed my specs...

3,4,5 Titleist T-Mb
6-pw Titleist AP-2

All with the new True Temper AMT S300
Golfpride Z-Grip
Standard LLL
I am presuming that this optimizes the angles and the spin for better GIR and consistency above other aspects.

Also for some reason I find myself comforted that others think through probably even more than I do.

Ah I see your point yes, and that makes a lot of sense. You know what will happen don't you? You'll hit the CB's decidedly average, and the 716 AP2's fantastic? How's that for sods law? :tomato:

That's a distinct possibility. If it does I will save myself about £900.

I'm looking forward to comparing the DG AMT to my S300 Pro I have in the 714. It's been a great match of shafts and heads.

I must admit, I too am tempted by the CB's to be honest. I think they'e the best of the bunch in terms of a combination of looks and possible all round playability. So that means I'll probably hit em like a pig then! Lol.
