Picking a top 5 list of games has got to be one of the hardest things to do for me - I think I have to try and pick games that I spent the most time playing as a measure of this and maybe lumping generational games into one. Here's a stab for me (in no order):

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 (and all others, but BC2 was by far the best)
Final Fantasy 7
Halo: CE (and Halo 2 as well...can't pick just one)
Perfect Dark
Megaman 2

Truth be told, if you as ask me again tomorrow the list might change. Runners up include:

Destiny
Goldeneye
Chrono Trigger
Descent: Freespace
Half Life 2
Counterstrike
Final Fantasy 3
COD: Modern Warfare
Mario Kart 64
Super Mario World
Castlevania 2
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time

Top 5 is kinda tough for me, too. I've played more than my fair share but some of my criteria would be:

The last two are great games that I still love playing but there's about 20+ that are kind of on the same level, it's just I felt like putting those two up there for some reason

shoot... i just saw your list. I can't believe I forgot about Descent: Freespace (and Freespace 2 for that matter)! I've always had a soft spot for space sims and that's about the best one that came out in my opinion (better than the Lucasarts X-wing/Tie Fighter series!).

I just picked up Galactic Civilization 3 while it was on a Steam sale for $25. It's like Civ5, only you can design your own race (or choose from the default ones), and there are space battles. So it's basically awesome. If anyone likes the turn based strategy type games, I'm pretty sure it's still on sale till the end of the day.

You two and me........both? Halo was my bread and butter in college as 2 didn't come out until I was a junior I think. Holy cow. SO MUCH TIME spent playing capture the flag games in a dorm. Good gracious. 16 player games over the college LAN...yikes. But it was so much fun.

I have a ton of honorable mentions. By far I have spent more hours on Counterstrike than any other game.

It's changed Destiny in several ways for SO much better. I loved Destiny before, and I love it even more right now.

Pretty funny. Despite all the new CODs, my friends and I still play Modern Warfare 2 and MW3 the most. Unfortunately the player pools shrink more and more each day but they are still a great deal of fun.

The Taken King is good. I like how they switched up how you can upgrade gear. Really sad there isn't a new armamentarium for the titan though.

It left the station already. I don't think a lot of people really care about it from what I've gathered...lots more hype for other games coming out this season like Battlefront and such.

Not sure if anything has been posted on this, but I picked up NHL 16 for ps4 and have been playing the EASHL with some buddies and it's a shockingly good time. Highly recommend it, if anyone enjoys hockey games.

I really like the change in how you upgrade armor, it fills that need of things not all looking the same.

I am wondering once the hard raid comes out, and you get primary guns with elemental burns, if you will be able to infuse that burn into a gun? I hope so, because honestly, all the primary guns I've gotten from the raid suck. The group I play with is basically 6 people using a 305-310 level Hung Jury. Like its the best gun out of the game and its not even remotely close for PvE stuff.

Played the Star Wars Battlefront beta over the weekend and really liked it. The two modes it allowed you to play were quite fun. I hadn't planned on buying the game before, but I think I might have to buy it when it comes out now.

I wish I had that faith in a Halo game anymore... I'm really starting to lose the same faith in CoD games. I guess its a good thing Destiny has the "10-year plan".

Huge PC gamer here.

Started back in the Quake 1/2 days, progressed through Half Life, Quake 3, etc etc.

Now a pretty hard core CS:GO player. I think I like it due to its very steep learning curve and competitive nature. I compare it to golf a lot.

I don't mind consoles for more casual games or ones maybe better suited to the dreaded controller (like God of War), but I've got hundreds of games in my Steam library.

For me, there's just no substitution for keyboard and mouse control and the more mature titles on PCs

The old school version of "Civ in space" was Alpha Centauri. Great game. The Civ games are soooo addicting. There's ALWAYS time for just one more turn. And then all of a sudden the sun is coming up 'cause that one more turn mentality. Civ IV is my favorite and after that is Alpha Centauri. I need to check out GC 3 and Civ 5.

Haven't pulled the trigger on NHL 16 yet. I really wish XBOne had an MLB game, really enjoy The Show for PS4.

I got Halo 5. Started off kind of slow, but I'm pretty into it now. Same old Halo stuff though. Multiplayer Warzone is fun, although my skills are rusty and I die a lot. It will make me happy until Battlefront comes out.
