Changing out Soft Spikes

Buy "The Ripper". It's available at most golf outlets. If you have a spike that is really beat up and you can't get a hold on it, you need to get creative with a red hot blade screwdriver. Heat then apply to spike. Let cool and then use same screwdriver to screw out the spike. If that doesn't work... Feel free it buy another pair of shoes. FYI, 5 years between spike changes is too long. Even with 5 shoes in rotation. That or you need to play more golf so that you have to change your spikes more often. Feel free to use that excuse with the wife.

Thanks guys. FYI, the shoes are not 5 years old. All pairs are less than 3-years old. I am closing in on my 125th round of the season, so these soft spikes have plenty of wear. Looking into a pair of DNAs next. Again, I appreciate the responses.

How I got to 5 years, I can't tell you (I was watching Hawaii 5-0 though so maybe too many 5's). 125 rounds. If I played that much I would need to consult a divorce lawyer. Good luck with the shoes.

After each round I rinse off the soles of my shoes with warm water and then scrub with a bristle brush. Done this for years and makes spike changing simple. I use Champ Scorpion Stinger spikes as they wear well and the base tends to sit real flush with the shoe minimizing crud in the receptical.

Mine only get that once or twice a year when I put them away for the season. Don't think I have any shoes left with removable spikes so even that is no longer an issue.

I long ago stopped using spikes after finding them wear out after onlt a couple or more rounds of walking with them on in clubhouses, car parks and cart paths. They just don't last for beans anywhere except on grass and even then not all that much. I shifted to soles that have nubs, nice thick ones. They last much longer and lose only a little bit of traction to the spikes provided the spikes are still new. You need a bit of caution when walking down hill or side hill.

Warm water will do it. Changed out 2 pair of old ones yesterday. Soaked for 15 min/pair and they came out no problem.
