I go to outlet stores. I've found Addidas has some really good deals. Nike and UA you have to look a little harder but they are there. I've also bought some of the PGA tour brand at the PGA Superstore and it is priced well and looks good. Surprisingly my wife once bought me a pair of pants, shirt and shorts at Target that were not so bad.

I think the Izod stuff looks good and is affordable. Their shorts are very impressive in terms color and patterns.

There are a lot of offseason sales online right now. For good brands too. I bought a nice pair of Callaway pants for $35 and some Footjoy golf shoes for $38 (with 3 free pairs of Adidas socks) on cyber Monday.

I think if you get wrapped up in having the latest and current season gear, you're going to end up paying the most money.

My advice would be to mix in some "non-golf" brands with your golf clothes. The main things I am thinking about are pants, sweaters, vests, pullovers, etc. The best option that comes to mind is Uniqlo. Adam Scott wears their stuff and you can find the stuff he wears on the course as just a part of their general clothes online. The do not have a "golf section" the sweaters and pants are just the pants they sell and they work great for golf. With sweaters, pants, pull overs, and even some polos, you do not need to buy a "golf brand." A v-neck merino wool sweater is a v-neck merino sweater weather the tag says Travis Mathew, Nike Golf, or Uniqlo. Just a thought.

+1 for this. Found two Under Armour quarter zip warm-up shirts (best way I can think of to describe them) on clearance in April. Also, Costco always has great deals on golf shirts, golf shorts, and golf pants during the spring and summer. I can't take full advantage as I am 6'7", but I did snag two nice Puma golf shirts. Unfortunately for me, the shorts and pants don't fit. For footwear, I shop Amazon almost exclusively.

Another option which you have to just check regularly are the Nike Factory and Clearance stores. Not always a great selection (or any selection depending on where you live) but you can find some great deals.

A Golfsmith opened up a block from my work in the South Loop of Chicago... I rarely see anyone in there, for over 6 weeks I would go in and find FootJoy Golf shirts for 30-60% off. I ended up buying 10 shirts some for as little as $17. Looking online the same style colors are still $65-$75. The deals are out there you just need to find them.

Bingo. Got a pair of tech pants and Lunar shoes from Nike Outlet store for $50 total.

Thats why i never buy stuff that are "for golf". Cheap pants will do. Knock off or cheap brand less performance fabric shirt will do.
