Almost "murdered out," the white grip, stamping, and sight lines kill the "murdered out" feel IMO.

Strip the paint off with acetone get black paint

Get some stainless darkener follow directions

Get a black grip and black shaft to complete

I need to do the shaft and darken the head in my Newport more to be complete

Though I did do something different with the Grip , Best Grips Carbon Fiber / Leather Grip, its truly unique. Very very different feeling. Loving the seam line for consistent set up

Alright boys I posted a week ago my SD 1.5 well it's sold and I stepped up to the show from AAA ball.....(at least ignoring 009's and tour putters) hahaha....I got a Newport AoP and is I would say 8.5 condition considering its carbon and the age it has a light gun blue finish that the other guy did but a bad all white paint job so acetone and now murdered....!!!!! The head isn't as dark as I would like it but I I like it nevertheless kinda looks like DJ's putter minus it's not a tour head

Here is the finish product. I may get some gun blue to darkener the head more

 

 

Send this to BOS to apply the 3x Black Oxide and you will have a champion. Best $75 you will spend. As you said you got the call from AAA with this putter, that finish would send it to the starting lineup of the Yankees!

Bought this OG Spider 4 years ago and had Continental and Vibrant do it up. Putter has never left my bag and brought me thousands of feet putts made.

 

 

I have this same putter and I'm thinking of doing something similar. If you don't mind explaining, how did they manage to work around the insert?

This is going to sound very very snake oil'ish - but one thing I love about the murdered putter, other than the look, is the black sight line, I line it up, and before I putt, let that visual go on the alignment aide, and focus on the stroke. If not blacked out putter, prefer the site dot.

These all look great in the bag but, personally, I like to see as much contrast as possible when the club is sitting on the ground. Black is just the opposite of that, especially for us old guys whose eyes are not what they once were. I'm even quite colorblind, which adds to the problem. For me, the ideal color for the putter would be white. All that said, and I'm currently using a Ping Ketsch......in black ;-). In this case though, the black hi-lights the best feature of this club which are the sight-lines. There are three long, large, white sight lines that make it really easy to line up. Anything with a simple small line or dot, should be in a lighter color IMHO.

Very nice! How did you do yours? I have two redwood ansers, one black satin, and one black nickel. I love the black finish on yours much more than the stock black satin.
