Bro, and I'm not trying to be cute but I consider you one of the Old Guard and a foundation bedrock and "member/owner"

Me?

I'm a Johnny come lately visitor, however me bein me, well, sometimes I can't just shut my mouth and let somethin lay, lol, hence, my initial response.

Your worst posts top my best as do quite a few others here, though that's ok, I don't have to be right, I don't have to "win," and I sure the hell don't have anything to prove here however the one area that I've never been real good at stayin on the sidelines for and I've never taken a backseat in, or shotgun or wing for that matter, and that is if I witness someone belittling, insulting or trying to bully someone .

You strike me the same way-

This is the only reason that I even responded to your post because if I had thought that anyone was attempting to belittle or stigmatize someone else, well my tone and posts would have been very different indeed, lol. I've never really figured out why I can "turn the other cheek" if someone attempts to criticize or belittle me however I go apes*** if I witness it being done to someone else-

I just chalk it up to another one of my issues, lol

Regarding the surgeons, that's great that they are obviously, "Back Niners," because they are even rarer than their Professional skills make them, and I'm guessing your CoS Bud is either a General Surgeon, CardioVascular or Neuro(Possibly Ortho though not likely), and normally the BNers from those specialties are balls to the wall, and their "God Complex" doesn't stop at the hospital, as the last thing that the guys I know give a s*** about are protecting their hands, within reason of course(besides, they all have multi-million dollar disability insurance policies, lmao). A lot of surgeons shake with a softer grip, and it's not that macho bulls***, they just have "light" fingers and hands. They feel that they are invincible, in about any area or subject that one brings up outside of medicine or their specialty, their tone of certainty far exceeds their actual knowledge, though good luck tellin em that, lol

The vast vast majorities' feeling of invincibility goes to their outside life, activities and health, so your Guys are indeed rare birds-

Be that as it may, I always benefit from your posts even when we might not share the same side of the table-

You're a Gentleman!

Stay Well Bro and have a Great Season and Year ahead :)

My Best,

RP

Same to you... Oh, I'd say the number of likes aside your name tell the bigger story. I can only aspire. :drinks: I wish you well.

HaHa, na Bro, I'm Easyyy's 2nd cousin twice removed, so he let's me play with the count :)

Have a nice weekend!

My Best,

Richard

High Road Taken.

How Refreshing!

Well Played Gents. :drinks:

The answer to better golf is hit it better, farther, and make more putts.

Run the other way if you see a dude wearing these, especially if they're mint:

il_570xN.729941890_dc9z.jpg

Bonus points if he's rocking white crew socks and shorts. Double bonus for black crew socks.

The kiltie is the giveaway. Give Dad his shoes back.

Man back in the day I could not stand those flaps as we called them I would cut mine off a brand new pair of shoes with a razor blade

Yep, I did the same thing with flaps, lmao-

My Grandmother got really pissed but she bought me pair of black with the flaps for my 12th birthday and I took one of her good Cutco kitchen knives and cut the s*** out of that flap gettin it off, lmao

Now those were tacky, lol

Have a great weekend Bro :)

Always,

Who knows, some guys come to the course looking like a tour player with the equipment to match and "THEN" they take the first swing "FORE!!!!", and then you have the other side of the coin, guys come in very humble and not too spectacularly dressed with older equipment then go out and shoot 70, so I never tend to speculate on anyone, I know some guys are very opinionated about others and then they get surprised..

A guy I got paired with wearing overalls, no shirt, no shoes shot 66 with old callaway steelheads last week.

"No shoes" ?...............I presume you mean no golf specific shoes............

Or was he barefoot with overalls on. If so thats some achievement.

he wore flip flops but took them off to hit

I dont understand the club cleaning brush, what do you guys use to clean your grooves in between shots?

A towel-that I have hanging from a clip on my back pocket lol. :taunt:

I find if I hang my towel off my left side it helps to balance out my bead counter hanging off the right side.

This then leaves my back pocket open for my iron headcover!

Real glad of where I live & play because we aren't judged like this.

I have a 24' ball retriever that has an orange cage that can hold 2 golf balls. Can't think of the manufacuer.

An old Ogio bag with the woddy system. The lining ripped out 3-4 years ago so I placed tubes in it---works better that the original set-up.

Have covers on every club in my bag.

Local course the only dress code is that you wear clothes.

At the end of the season I got down to a 7 handicap.

To me a hacker is someone who judges someone else about their choice of clubs, the clothes they wear, what tees they play from, whether they use iron head covers, and the like. :-)

Biggest giveaway is not even an accessory. If you put your driver on the bottom dividers and your irons at the top of your bag, it's a dead giveaway.

I once asked I kid at a tournament why he did this. He said that's how Ricky's bag is.

Lol what!? Don't think Ive seen any tour player do this thankfully! haha

I mentioned this in another thread, but I also have here two marvelous Japanese golf tees. I was paired up with a nice Japanese couple in a golfing resort and they were kind enough to give me these tees since they realized I was so fascinated with them. The one on the left flexes and also has a tether you can anchor down; the tether itself is fluorescent green and you can use it for alignment--not during a tournament, of course. The one on the right has a breakable plastic top that you simply press back on. These are a set height so they can only be used for drivers.

I posted a couple times on this thread, but I'm beginning to think I fit many of the descriptions offered by others:

1. Rangefinder

2. Glove stays on when I putt

3. Club brush

4. Ball retriever (sometimes)

5. Swiss Army golf knife, complete with ball marker and divot tool (nobody has mentioned this one yet)

6. French tickler tees, Brush tees, Epoch tees (I've tried 'em all!)

I feel better now that I've confessed...

RP, I don't get the "what's your miss?" response... did he mean the 8th, 9th, and 10th hole on the course?

I don't know how I'd answer that one either. If we were at the range I'd probably say, "give me a minute and I'll tell ya."

Right now, I guess it's probably the block that frustrates me the most. Nah, the super quick thinny that runs right up my forearms. That one really kills me from close in. Man, I'm such a hack. :)

Those kiltie shoes are awesome. I'd wear those in a second with the flap. If I had an unlimited budget I'd certainly be trying to bring back some classic golf fashion. Big scottish tartan plaid pants, argyle sweaters and socks, full grain classic shoes, newsboy caps - I love 'em all.

Probably the most annoying habits for me personally when playing with a true hack involves pace. The perfect round of golf for me is neither fast nor slow. Most guys can't get that figured out. You gotta be fast at the right times and slow when it counts! But, that's not an accessory so it's OT.

In retrospect I wish I would have worded my reply better. Something like "I'm a hacker & proud of it". When I found myself apologizing to Richard, I knew something was wrong. From my own local course, the one's that are all decked-out in nice clothes, expensive bag & equipment----they are fighting to break 100.

Not an accessory per se. Wearing your glove from the car.

lmao. Can't tell you how many times I forget to take my glove out of my back pocket after 18. Got that friggen thing hanging out while I'm sitting at the club bar.

Same here except I drive around town with it and go into stores, get food, eat at restaurants with it. What a doofus I am.

I play golf with two Surgeons that wear two gloves to protect their hands, and both are single digit golfers, that might save "your" life someday. Also, know a single digit golfer that uses iron head covers and carries a towel in his back pocket and employees 180 truck drivers across the country. I spose my point is, there are plenty of actual idiots and bad people in this world that do real harm.

I see no enjoyment in making fun of people because their choices are different or not like mine, and many are not hacks. I am NOT remotely PC either, just know fun from being an adolescent jerk.

Happy New Year :)

Are you referring to anyone in here as being "an adolescent jerk?"

The Guys posting in here are all great guys and I don't see any mean spirited posts-

Oh, and regarding those two surgeons, well, just between you and I, that's bulls*** with the two gloves, lol(a I realize to them it's mental so it's not, but knowing and witnessed first hand what it takes to be a World Class, Top of the Mountain skilled Surgeon, a guy(s) with irreverent quirks such as those are systemic of a deeper mental make-up, and I'm talkin world renowned surgeons, and not a single one had something as stupid as that, lol. I am in no way directing this at you and they may be the nicest guys to ever don two gloves, but I'd bet their surgical skills and more importantly, the thought process and actions and reactions when s*** hits the fan are equal to that of a single single cap. That ain't good enough. Not as a surgeon. No way. No day. You want a Plus, and just like this game, the lower the better. Just my .01 worth, though again Turbs, not directed at you :) )-

My Father is former Chief/Chairman Department of Renal Transplant, Presbyterian Hospital, Pitts, Pa(24 years) and he wears no gloves and he too is a single digit, presently a -8, though in his younger days he played at -5 to -6 for years. Oh, and he also chops his own firewood, lol, sans gloves.

But hey, if they think 18 holes with the fingers and thumb of their right hand touching rubber is gonna jeopardize those finely skilled hands, then who is a half blind, partially paralyzed chop to say to em, "Bro, you're full of s***," lol, but damn do I wish that we had a few like them at the club, lmao.

I mean, my dad and some of his surgeon buds are screwed up, but not like that.

As far as making fun of people, the only person I poke fun of is me, and Lord knows I've got enough to poke, lol.

Stay Well My Friend & have a Great Year and Season :)

My Best,

RP

Just a thought about surgeons who golf. I never played with any, but I would guess that with all the dexterity needed to perform operations, most surgeons would be pretty good golfers. I'd worry about a surgeon who was really hacking up the course.

I used to play with three dentists. Two were retired and decent golfers. The younger fellow was an excellent golfer, but always looked grubby. His clothes were always tattered. He had his own practice, but moved out of the area some years ago. I always thought his appearance did him in.

Anyhow, thoughts on a cold January morning.

Kind of funny when I think about it. It doesn't seem like too many of our doctors play much.

The one doctor I've played with more than a couple times isn't very good. Hard slice.

The one dentist I've played quite a bit with. Solid player, short but good irons and putter. Probably a 7-8 handicap.

We also have a pretty widely renowned eye surgeon here. He's a stick. Past club champion. Probably a low single now.
