Bluetooth/wireless earbuds

I searched for this topic, but didn't find anything from the last 12 months. So, I thought I'd give it a whirl and see if anyone's opinions have changed with newer stuff being released. My apologies ahead of time if there's been a newer discussion that I missed.

(I'm not really sure if this belongs in this sub forum)

Im looking for a quality pair of Bluetooth earbuds. They'll mostly be used for running and the occasional trip to the gym. Every now and then I'll use them on the range or putting green.

I don't want to say that price doesn't matter, but I'm willing to spend a little more to get a pair that sounds good. I want something with a bit of bass.

I do not want noise cancelling.

I know the Powerbeats 2 have a lot of low end compared to some other brands, but those things just look huge.

My wife has a pair she got off Amazon for around $30-$40. I took them on a trip with me last weekend and they just sucked. They fell out of my ears, hurt my ears, and sounded like garbage.

I have been using Skullcandy's Smokin' Buds 2 Wireless. Good battery life (6 hours or so) and pretty comfortable. Easy pairing and sound isn't bass-heavy.

I just bought a pair of Jaybird X2's. Haven't had a chance to use them at the range or gym but I'm loving them for watching YouTube and listening to music on my IPhone. Bought mine from ABT Electronics and I'd definitely recommend them as a vendor.

You'll love the Jaybirds.... I had a set of Powerbeats wireless and loved the over ear fit but I would lose connection constantly. Once I got used to the in ear fit the Jaybirds have been fantastic, and the only time I've lost connection was when I walked about 100 yards away from my phone at the range.

I'll give an endorsement to the jaybirds as well. I've got the original bluebuds and they are top notch

I wouldn't say they go a whole hundred yards, I've had minimal connection issues when I use them walking and I'm around a green or what not but nothing major.

The originals can be had new for under $80 bucks which almost makes it a no brainier, and I don't think there's enough of an improvement with the x2 to pay double the price.

The powerbeats are also solid, be some reviews rate them higher than the jaybirds, but it depends if you want over or in-ear.

Here's a solid deal on powerbeats if that's the direction you end up going

I did a lot of research myself and the top ones are the Jaybirds, XTFREEs by SC and the SB2s. I ended up going for the cheaper SB2s and they're great for the range but not so much for running. There's still that feedback from the bounce and they don't completely stay in but as far as sound. They sound phenomenal. I listen to a lot of complex metal and I like to hear vocals and crap.

Soul Electronics Run Free Pro

Best wireless buds out there IMO. The components rate higher and are better than any Beats products and the design is so comfortable and wont go anywhere.

I recently got the wireless Beats 2, I know they are expensive, but the sound quality is amazing! If you go back and forth from one set to another then you can tell a difference, I can hear instruments in the background i did not hear before. The sound is crisp and clear, and they are very comfortable. They also last me about 12-15 hours on a full charge.

MPow Magnetos are a great set of earbuds at a very good price in the $30-$40 range. I saw they had great reviews and gave them a shot and I'm not at all disappointed. I haven't gotten to take them to the range yet, but usually get a day and a half out of them at work and they are magnets so you can clamp them together around your neck when not in use. I think the sound is great and I barely know I am wearing them so they aren't uncomfortable.

What did you search for?

"Wireless" brings back a ton. The second thread (yours is first) is this one from Dec with 120 posts. http://www.golfwrx.com/forums/topic/1009647-best-bang-for-the-buck-headphonesear-buds-for-golf-and-exercise/

Bluebuds X are great. You can get them for 50-70 from Amazon now.

I bought this when they were on sale for $10 at Amazon early last year.

I use it everyday, when I work out or going to the range.

They sound great and been really reliable.

I'd figure if it breaks, I can get another one for $10.

New product that's launching soon, Kanoa. They're half price since they're a pre-order. https://www.getkanoa.com/

Use coupon "KANOAFAN" to get $10 more off for $139. The app is interesting that you can use with it. You can tune the buds to allow more, or less, and what frequency external sounds you want to pass through with its "Audio Transparency."

So you can get most out of a music and athletic experience, we created the KANOA App with a ton of features including:

  • Performance Tracking – HeartRate, Calories, Distance, Time
  • Custom Audio Tuner / Equalizer
  • Intuitive Universal Music Player
  • Audio Transparency
  • Quick One-time Sync-up
  • Earphone Control and Info
  • Motivating Playlists from the Pros
  • Various Social/Sharing Features

Anyone got any new recs here? I tried some apple AirPods at the range last week and the one on my right ear kept falling out.

Strange. I have the AirPods and they're my favorite piece of tech I've ever owned. I can literally do front flips on a trampoline and they stay in place absolutely perfectly. I use them during every round. I also use them when riding my bike. And running errands. Or doing dishes. Or talking on the phone with my actual phone in my pocket.

I have and use the Bose SoundSport - they are great all around headphones and the battery life is top notch. Can't wonder from your device that you're using for music but so far - however, I walk and say my phone is in my bag, I'm on the green and the bag is on the fringe - no problem. I think they are rated from 35-55 feet, so not the industry best, but the quality is second to none in my opinion.

Anker SoundBuds Slim are the best on a budget. IPX4 water resistant, plenty of ear bud sizes with removal hooks, 10m/33ft range, inbuilt mic, 7 hour play time, magnetic attach when not in use and for $26 they seriously sound great. Throw them in your bag and no need to be precious about them.

Been using the Jaybird x2 for a couple months now and they’re great. Good sound and once you find the right fit they will stay put. I haven’t used them on the range yet but I use them in the gym usually 5 times a week and I’ve yet to have a problem
