Brooks Koepka Nike Putter

Pretty sure he is still using his trusted Scotty Cameron Buttonback Newport, probably until he has more time to practice with the new putter. However, by the way he has been playing this week he shouldn't keep his Scotty in the bag for the foreseeable future...

Yes you are correct it is the Button Back Newport 2 not a T10 Newport 2.

Those are the same thing, just different nomenclature.

An OTR Button Back = T10 Tour Version

A Button Back Tour is just called a T10 - there's also the Terrylium 10 but that is separate from either of the other two.

  • 4 weeks later...

After digging around a little more, it looks like this is the same model the Patrick Rodgers uses too. But PR has a counterbalance version with tungsten plugs and a counterflex grip.

Brooks version is pretty cool though. No face milling, hand softened bumpers/shoulders/neck/top-line/toe. Now if I could just find a way to get Nike to make me one with no sight-line... hmmmm

Here are some pic's of Patrick's version for comparison:

Wow BK's Method is clean...something about the non-milled face that makes the Method grooves pop.

On a side note, can any putter gurus lay some knowledge on me about the advantages (if any) of a milled face vs. non-milled putter face?

milled usually means it will be a softer feel

Not a guru by any stretch. But the general consensus seems to be the deeper milling reduces the percentage of material on the face that actually comes in contact with the ball. This leads to a softer/muted sound characteristic. This sound change seems to translate to a different feel when putting. Typically, a putter with very shallow/light milling will have a firmer/click'ier feel/sound.

My guess is Brook's wanted a certain feel/sound and the deletion of the milling helped achieve this. Often good players that are sensitive to feel will say that a firmer feel helps them greatly with distance control. Each player is different and ymmv. Again, sound and feel tend to be very subjective things that are difficult to describe with words. Everyone's perceptions and sensitivities vary greatly.

What grip is he using on the NIKE? The pistolero he had on his Cameron is pretty unique feel wise under the top hand.

It's the new Iomic I-Classic Mid:

I wish I could grab a few of these here in canada....they are like the pistolero but not SC branded...I love that elongated top hand. ...
